Quite right Jammy, I have spent most of my professional life explaining these things to readers of the DM and similar rags. Old cousin Anne was the worse: Some doughbag solicitor advised her to invest her £75k inheritance in 1965 in the building society. I got there in 1972 and it was still not too late:- "Anne if you don't like the stock markets buy a dozen decent houses/flats and have an estate agent manage them for you." Well, I really think I shouldn't ignore the solicitor's advice she replied. She never did and by the time she died in 1996 she was virtually a pauper, following my advice she would have died a millionaire.

Maybe it has to be because they can see inefficiences which Pen have not sorted. Actually loads of people still are doing so sc because they simply couldn't care less about all this environmental blah blah blah. E.g. we have a very good recycling scheme being operated by the council where we live but my mrs says " Why can't we just bung it all in the bin like we used to?" and there are plenty more like her hence we have the oceans slowly filling up with plastic, much of it left there by our wonderful fishermen.

Yes we are beginning to see a couple of changes which should have been obvious to anyone who has looked at past performances: 1. Joris really is a complete berk who the Tories will have to unload sooner or later (together with DC).

Faulty thinking there icey: Average detached house in UK was £258k ten years ago and is now £359k per government figures. That's about 4% per annum but dear old Lloyds is currently producing well over 5% and unlike a house, there is no maintenance cost.

The point is (which some seem to be oblivious of), where else can one get over 5 1/2 % on a safe and liquid investment? Almost impossible for the average small punter I would say.

Erroneous statement: Who are the "unelected politicians"? Perhaps you mean the bureaucrats who are just the same as our bureaucrats, i.e., they work for the government which ever that is and do as they are told by the elected politicians. Daft woman interviewed on BBC last night said "Now we have freedom"; interviewer asked "Frreedom from what?". She could not answer just like the rest of the dinlos who voted leave. I dare say the Tory party will soon give him the order of the boot. They can be quite ruthless when it comes to unloading a public embarrassment; wonder how long it will take them to do it.
