what’s peoples opinions on oil futures over next 4 weeks from interest rate rises?

I’s it down, or sideways?

I have BP, OXY, SHEL & XOM in oilies.

Bofa had $150, CS $180 some other dudes had $200.

i don’t think we will see any of these ridiculous figures with rising rates each month from USA.

i’m 2011 it hit $110, but then went down and took 10yrs to revisit these heady highs were at now.

£275m sale of RIO shares just registered after hours. Probably fund managers disposing at these levels.

think we can all agree, we’re in recession, war going on, high oil prices, high grocery prices for some, high utility bills, inflation spiralling, trade movement slowing etc.

if they were to mention recession it would collapse markets. This is just the start of roll back so it looks..

Take look back at 80’s. I were a school boy back enjoying life while families experienced high 11.5% interest rates!

I’m looking at 4800p to drip feed more in here, along with RKT and more AZN

I need say no more, plus we have China v Taiwan issues too, now we have EU v Boris johnson Brexit agreement.

Look at the VIX on the stockmarket. it says one thing, there is trouble in the market, it looks like a HOLTER machine

On the matter of dividend payouts.

The dividend may increase, but most analysts predict the dividend to be lowered in line with demand for the precious metals.

When we are being confronted by recession talk, there is thus more likely hood of this reduction happening.

Macquarie brokerage have reduced the dividend predictions for 2022:

The expected easing in the iron ore price from its current elevated levels will see its dividend continue to fall.
Macquarie is forecasting Rio Tinto's dividend to come in at US$6.52 per share in FY2023 and US$5.58 in the following year.

On a different note, don’t be fooled into small increases each day and be caught buying into this.
We are now deemed in a bear market as the markets have fallen ( NOT collapsed yet ) by 20%. This is where we will see alot of big swings happen as people may well think they have the bottom.

BLK one of largest asset funds are not a buyer of these dips for this reason…

USA Feds make decision on interest rate rise of 0.75pts..

a drop to 5277 shows lots of resistance in this current move.

If you look at other areas of the market this year that have led, such as industrial metals, coal and fertilizer — all similar to oil stocks from standpoint of a commodity — the market at some point has taken them out and crushed them.
transportation can’t operate in spiralling environment if retailers are not paying for goods in shops as customers are struggling to save money,

it’s a vicious cycle mate. history will repeat itself! guaranteed.

again go and look at the last 25yrs on SHEL’s SP. it’s gone sideways versus XOM, OXY, SLB etc etc

Further when some broker makes outlandish targets they never materialise as markets stop it. in 2012 was it we were supposed to get $200 oil! lol

the ban has no impact on oil prices as shipping tankers are possibly still selling oil just swapping it at sea so i have also read.

£30 price target is based on oil reaching $150 p/barrel.
Anything is possible, i’d just take each week at a time.
The higher the SP target invariably never materialises.
But then again anything can happen, China could invade Tawaian!

We have future interest rate rises that can and will undoubtedly hurt future rises, with pressure on the main markets

OIL has a head and $140 is a level which the economy will undoubtedly go into recession.

iv been BP, SHEL, SLB, OXY, XOM over past 20yrs, along with miners too.
BP has a downward trend over 25yrs, SHEL as too.

I believe the case why is due to paying above market average dividend payouts 5-6%.

Try BHP, better growth prospects and dividend is better even without the SD!

one reason why SHEL & BP have seriously lagged XOM, OXY, COP, CVX as they have been paying mega high dividends, and obviously SHEL bought BG Group which cost £40bn? and BP is still reeling from 2011 HORIZON oil disaster .
This is my equation, abd so over last 6 yrs i have added XOM and OXY ( which is on fire this yr).

i also have BP, SHEL, RIO & BHP

The reason for the fall is down to one reason only.
If you look at the 1-2 yr chart and take into consideration the past history of earning calls.
Azn has been driven by its development of a successful vaccine alone to save the worlds population from death.

At present, AZN is overvalued, and until AZN can start replacing its past blockbuster drug Crestor, this SP will not be continuing its drive higher.

I have held AZN since 2008, Abbvie (2019), GSK(2009), Vertex, NVS, JNJ (2010), and GILD ( 2020).
