unsure about using my profits from LGE (75% ) to top here. i bought in 2009 and 2013. high i know. then SLA failed with people existing underperforming funds. with high dividend this is not a safe level to top up with unless it does continue to rise like 20_30% like some say. THEN come sD day it will ultimately consolidate at lower price, and again people are either going run away or top up more with funds.

i’m already heavyweight here in portfolio, though have a BUY not Sell philosophy over the years, seldom sell.

here would become 15% of my portfolio along with VOD & JNJ with biggest holdings. JNJ nearly tripled, vodafone down from 190p average to 120p today, and ABDN down from average 435p to 208p

i’m not here to argue.

i’m not an amateur, but come here maybe once twice a year. iv invested £30k since 2003 now in 6 digits… we all have our views some short some long. i’m pointing out the long term hurdles.

PS. don’t follow what a defunct bank( DB )estimates for target prices.
They’re the worst brokerage bank for guidance…

RIO as we know is highly leveraged to Chinese raw materials demand. This trend i think will decelerate as the country's infrastructure-led investment boom wanes.
Most of Chinese towns are still like ghost towns of empty skyscrapers, and as China’s population falls and infrastructure bill is brought to a halt, we should see lower demand for iron ore and will revert to recycling more scrap steel. that’s my thinking.

all the signals are a glaring signal, this is not going to go higher than 6500p at a push.
‘supply & demand’, then we are talking about recessionary fears about cost of materials ‘the bigger picture’ affecting price of goods to consumers.

ill give you something , only for your ears only. this is heading south, so all the technicals say until Div ex date in April.

yes, we all knew on 8th to sell this mammoth of stock, and bide time for it to settle. my concern is that going forward higher commodity prices will ultimately bring about another recession? right. so why buy..

People need to smell the coffee and not trade this thinking it’s going to keep rising.

i have now 550 average price 1995p, glad i took the plunge in March 2009 when my broker told me not to! haha.

please don’t be easily fooled by a jump in sp just to buy.

we must remember the economic backdrop here.
if oil continues to rise and hit what JPM & MS suggest could well happen to $140-160 by July, we would inevitably go into a recession due to commodities being at extremely high levels that consumers could not afford.
trade carefully and don’t just think about the next 7 days ahead. think about next year ahead, next 4 yrs.

i had 7500 bought in 2010 at 85.10, sold them on tuesday.

i see a downward trend for both LGEN & AVIVA in this environment due to insurance risks.

10th March is EX-Dividend, abd as the name suggests, this date excludes the dividend for which people buy shares on.

Just heard on SkyNews, Nickel trading has been suspended on LME. hit $100,000 . a 5 times increase in previous high.

oil is spiking now, $125 a barrel. not good for economy :-(
will BP track it for once today?

i find it hard to comprehend why US & French oilies are rising lie 20% in a day, but SHELL & BP continue to drop.

i also own OXY, XOM, RIO VALE in commodities, abd OXY has been on fire of late since this terrible disaster started.

i’d buy exdivi date hopefully nearer 215p

I’m shocked at the dividend .
Though I’m sure they have a longer term view of the oil price and see oil falling back down in months ahead so don’t wish a dividend increase at current time

Once dividend is rebased and the share buy backs is slowed down this should see a shoot back up. I have£20K here since 2012, £15K in BP and $11/£8k OXY ( 2019).
Going to rejig and move more to RIO & VALE

Do not sell when they go down, as investors will just grab cheaper shares like I

Drip feeding is key and that’s how I have very well in 19-20 yrs

I accumulated from 2003 with 1076 at £12 or so, then 250 more in 2009 £16, and hopefully be buying another 200 at £35-£36.

It’s all about having a long time line on one’s investments.

Ones to stay clear of I’d say are HNZ, APL of the big chips . Inflation, debt and rising interest rates will hit these hard
