you fill out the witholding tax divi form and it reduces it USA deducting divi by only 15% not 30%. it’s available if you are with HL and asks you to fill out after purchasing foreign stocks.

Here is the question.

As the UK mining stocks, which one would you continue to hold?

Do we want to hold Woodside Pet stock too ( though has a 6% divi attached i see ), or stay with cheaper RIO.
I’m thinking i take a haircut to my RIO and buy more BHP as it’s cheaper to buy and can see this at 4500-5000p in next 10yrs?

i also hold Vale, OXY, bp, Shel.

never say something is in doubt , as that’s when people get egg on their face. We have only started to be told we have reverse growth in laat 3months.

Wait until q2.

I’m positive as an investor , just know there is a bigger bump to come.

Let’s go back to 1985 when we had a recession. i were only a wee kid then, but interest rates hit 12%!

We have a higher debt mountain to pay back for all the zillion currencies printed.

We have only dropped 22% from a high on just what if’s.
the last recession miners went of a cliff from 6000p, or was it 7000p to 1153p in 6months.

So, i’m sticking to my guns, wait until August / St Ledgers day to get bullish in any way about a direction.

There is such a disconnect between market & stocks.
E.g. Oilies are just not following the Oil futures for one over the last 2months.

brokers comments are one thing, but invariably they only comment to keep their clients happy.

I’d side with a UK broker, Barclays or HSBC on views if you must.

But never follow DB. They should be delisted asap!

Growth prospects just got better with BAE.
Both BA3 & ROLLS have been offered a £2bn contract to built a new Dreadnought submarine ready for 2030. A bit too late now, but is going to help their earnings credentials. 14% growth in EPS for 2022.

If Samantha LaDuc is even close to being "right" that oil is heading to $160 and then onto $260 by next year I can guarantee you that will put us into a "WORLD WIDE SEVERE DEPRESSION".

Notice I said depression NOT recession.

Everyone that is here just for the dividend. I must remind everyone, that the world is going to suffer a recession after the inflation slows down due to rising rates.
I for one is has been here since Dec 2008 for growth than anything else.

i’d be more concerned about you loosing a foothold on your investment.

The last fortnight, we have had one bank talk about a 7000p target, and another one talk of 4800p.

trick of this market when we’re possibly nearing a recession, is drip feed, and only drip feed on a drop of 20% from purchase price.

This has worked wonders for 20 yrs for me.

so, after USA & UK raised rates, and we also hear the USA could possibly consider being more brutal with raising rates im taking a hold until we see direction of Nasdaq & S&P.

Nasdaq down 4.3% today after a rise yesterday.

Might be waiting until 26th to buy more ex-div date.

im also tempted to buy SN too, looks a steal!!

There is ALWAYS a BUT! This is a very expensive stock. It trades at 29 times forward 2022 Earnings versus the FTSE at 13
On a flip side, defensive stocks do outperform.
Just remember targets are where the broker sees it going.
This week there has been many revisions of stocks; i give you RIO. Credit Suisse have 7000p, but another broker has 4800p.

Don’t base a broker view on one’s investment, but how long you are. 12mths+

looks like investors like Powells comments on rate rise today in USA.

i’m a buyer of more BHP ( anoth3r 100 i’d say ) tomorrow. Who’s joining me.
iv compared the drop of RIO to BHP, they’ve dropped the same since there highs (15-16% approx ).

watch today 1500-1600 for a sense of direction with movements.
This will move either to further downside after Powells speech or rise on positive news.

that’s what charts are pointing to i’m afraid. time will tell

it’s weird how markets & oil futures get manipulated and Feds don’t do anything about it.
oil down 1% but someone oilies up 1%( BP, OXY, XOM SHEL )

time will tell over next week after US start the rate rise ;-)

Where do you guys think this will bottom out at before a rise?
I’m pinning on somewhere around 2300p before reconsidering..
A lot can happen, we have just had AUD raise interest rates for first time since 2010, now we have US feds & UK to follow.

At the minute AZN seem to be performing very well, but in my opinion, AZN is top heavy.
There are better pharmaceuticals to compare to for growth prospects at a lower P/E; ABBVIE, MERCK, NVS.
