remember the saying SELL MAY, Come back later. this may well be that time. we have had more than 10yrs of a bull market, and now it’s time for interest rates to start playing catch up with the market.
In my view Interest rates were reduced fat too low from day one and caused this market to balloon out of control.
Powell has already signalled that they could have 3 rate hikes each quarter. so that would imply 2.5% interest rates. great for banks, terrible for home owners thinking about low interest rates during this inflated environment we have become accustomed to, plus Energy crisis just taking fold; retail gas prices going from 50p per unit in July ‘21 to £7.20 yesterday at close of market.

Could Aviva not have just raised the dividend and used this pot of cash to consider M&A ?

i’d think more about inflationary concerns more than ceiling prices.

High inflation results in recession.

so i just thought i see what opinions on where we see the SP going over 12months.

on a historical trend commodities will rally when inflation is high along with rising interest rates, but BHP has outperformed the commodities so far over last 6weeks more so due to political unrest in EU, and shortage of commodities due to supply chain problems.

On tradingview a site i use for a technical insight into various shares i hold, it has resistance levels well above 3000p, as high as 3400-3700p.
On a different note, brokers have a sector perform on Bhp and have a 2500p-2700p PT for 2022, and have for past month.

I’m afraid, you need a reality check mate.
people are struggling to pay bills to hear one’s home, buy food, pay rent, petrol for travel, so premiums will not be going up. i have just renewed my house insurance and got a reduction due to a no claim bonus.

On the SP, the sp shows overbought signs, and this is going to continue going south until we get more positive news. Unlikely with US hiking interest rates in a may by 0.5bp.

I for one, held LGEN for 11yrs, along with AVIVA and ABDN.
i will be re-buying much lower in May .

My personal opinion, is not to be topping up at the top of the cycle in commodities, and hold it on your nominee account and top up lower down end of year

Simple answer to this dividend payout.

i work for a brokerage firm, and this is a common question we get every month.

Brokers have to make profit, so invariably hold an extra few days. if we don’t we would charge an admin charge for arranging this collection of monies each month.

well, the oscillators and moving averages are still showing this a strong buy, i just don’t like the prospect of having to use the B shares to top up my Aviva holdings i had.

Again , look SLA consolidation and name change after the fiscal of what happened to there company, to ABDN.

i watch the bond market too, and have noticed a trend appear in bonds over last 2weeks ago.
The signs are reminiscent of 2007/2008, a recession sign.
I know the US has to raise rates to stem the hyper like inflation, and last night the Fed made a statement that it might have to be aggressive about this need in raising rates.

Recessions do happen every 10yrs in. a cycle you know, and maybe this is the time ..

i’m a seller here for this reason and the fact it is copulating the trend of ABDN in share consolidation which has turned out to be a bad play.

you hold 60 stocks sounds like too many to make any profit with commission charges. one would be better to invest in no more than 30. how do you have time to follow 60? ? ?

This a pure defensive play / steady eddy as you would say. it’s not going to jump 3-4% neither drop 3-4%.

i hold MYI and have since 2008, bought here, and has done nothing but accumulate dividends.

i’m selling my AVIVA shares on 6th April to buy here with £11.5k.

pressure from rising interest rates in USA will possibly be the biggest headwind against this going forward. DB a brokerage i don’t particularly follow has a target of 2100p, though JOM has 2900p. big contrast to where banks see mining companies go.

probably cause no one buys into big spikes, though RIO does trade cheaper and has more profits from Iron Ore than BHP.

My thinking also that it’s quieter here is possibly from the delisting from the FTSE which has confused some people; that you can still trade it.

i own both, along with OXY, SHEL & BP.

just added another £10500 in at close.

i was about to put £10770 in today, but just bought 2000 DLG and 2222 more BP.
Do regret selling LGEN though having held since 95p or so.
