Does anyone have any views on Azn making another attempt to buy GILD?

There all talking about it this week about being maybe lined up to be acquired by Sorriot AZN. GILD is run by a clueless guy draining company of money at minute in O’Day ( former Roche CEO ).

unless your a newbie to this, the dividend will undoubtedly not be kept at current levels due to demand and pricing power when recession really is felt next yr.

I wouldn’t be buying any at these levels, as this years and next yrs story is about growth NOT value.

Once inflation cools, recession will set in…

he was right not to overpay which has happened in past during commodity boom, both RIO & BHP guilty of this.

We have to remember that this 11% is not going to be every year and expect volatility disrupt these continual high payouts.

i’m a holder of BP,BHP, OXY ( can’t wait for blow out earnings tonight ), RIO & XOM.

bottom not seen until 14th-18th August. We wait and hope it’s in line with expectations.

GS has Vodafone on its Conviction but list. Means jack all. Just invest in businesses that we need, and will always be about for years ahead.

Hence buy some and just top up every year when you like. It’s not going to pop to 245p anytime soon..

The market has now told everyone this is not about inflationary pressure, but Growth.
RKT , ULVR doing well.
We live in a different environment, so the cold remedy business will perform well along with DUREX. and everything else like it has for past 5yrs.

It’s a good stock that will help weather these times we’re going through.
I bought last week and will top up like i have been doing over last 15-20yrs.

After RIO’s results today it’s not about inflation, it’s about Growth.

Just keep remembering this: any dividend over 6% must be treated with caution. I have sayd this for years, but no one seems to listen until it comes back to haunt and a haircut happens. Rio’s 2nd divi has had just that of nearly 50% to payout

People forget that SHELL are experts as the have all the best team around them to help decide rather than adfvn traders shouting fir it to be raised.

We are on top of a recession, a recession that we have not experienced before, so when that is fully felt if the market decides to let it be known, she’ll is not left caught out paying a high dividend.

Let’s just think about gaining market share back and paying down debt first.

Look at US counterparts, they have fared better than Uk companies having to slice dividend payouts.

3-4% is a better payout than the historic 5-6% and we gain on growth.

it’s not Australian shares on the ASX you bought. It’s shares listed on London Stock Exchange just like Santander is etc.

if you buy an ADR or Australian listed you pay the tax to country. i have loads of ADR’s and a few American stocks i pay 15% foreign dividend tax on them.
