RE: Next up - self isolation14 Dec 2021 19:29
Agreed, the first line goes without saying. However, we don't need everyone to be vaccinated to get to a very similar result. Elderly, vulnerable, voluntary Vax would give us enough protection without going autocratic.
You say "It doesn’t matter if someone has covid in your group as it’s unlikely to effect anyones health significantly."
Alert, alert. Wrong attitude and exactly why the covid pass doesn't work. You've gone from 'everyone should be vaccinated to ensure everyone is protected' to 'well it's ok to take some risk as it's UNLIKELY to effect anyone's health" a bit of hypocrisy there byp. As long as the risk suits you hey. So I guess you must think that the 150 deaths per day are all unvaxxed then, the 800 per day hospitalisations are all unvaxxed. Nope, there are plenty of people vaxxed who are in that nightclub with you that will catch covid and will be hospitalised and will unfortunately die. But I guess it's not nice to have that on your conscience so just pretend everyone will be ok. Just scrap the pass and test everyone.
The NHS themselves have been asking for a bigger budget well before Covid. You seem to think they are wrong and 5 hour A&E wait times and 2 year waitlists are acceptable. You sound like a politician. The NHS needs funds and Covid has proven it. I for one would be willing to pay a little more NI each month to ensure an improved service. Better than paying £3b on mediocre tests fueling China's economy recovery. More funds = better quicker service which in turn helps rectify the cancer waitlists you elude to. It also enables us to prepare for the next pandemic instead of been caught with our pants down again. We have to learn from this pandemic. There are 7000 people in our hospitals, in January there were 40k. The vaccines worked, the covid pass benefits, the self isolation benefits all used to coerce people into reluctantly getting the jab. All the coercion tactics worked. You got 90%, well done. You don't need 100%. Give mine to that African grandmother. If the NHS survived with 40k covid patients, 7000 will be fine. You and Boris don't need to hold me down and stick me. You'll be ok. I have a 0.0002% chance of dieing of covid. Forget about me, you got the important ones which is why we have not seen the huge spike in hospital admissions. Turn your focus to yourself now, get tested before you go out to the club. Don't rely on the pass.
Of course I spare a thought for others I just don't agree with your solution. I think we should give the NHS the money it needs to increase capacity. You think we should force people to be jabbed and when they don't comply belittle them and ship them off to Australia. Very autocratic. Sorry but there is no other way to describe it.
