RE: Ensure primary fuel supply, clear dues: Power producers to govt22 Sep 2024 13:04
Quite instructive on the depreciation of the Taka. All those AL bigwigs were deserting the sinking ship buying property abroad. Certainly those LPG plant were being set up for the capacity charge only which bigwigs could see Bangladesh could no longer afford and I thought some IPPs it was reported somewhere. didn't even bother with generators- just sheds to garner the capacity charge.
Obviously they have to work with former charlatans for whom Abu Bakar Chowdhury is being an apologist because there are so many gas generators in the system.
Coal not mentioned so maybe not a fully representative panel assembled. It stands to reason that if it is own coal it will be cheaper than LPG for the country and getting the Taka to appreciate is the easiest 'save'.
I wonder whether there is any substance in your 20.21 link yesterday or whether the Interim Government can take heed and pull its finger out. If Yunus could see his way to agreeing to OPM before COP 28 he could do the interim government a lot of good.
