RE: Illegal mining16 Nov 2017 11:11
I'm inclined to give the BOD the benefit of the doubt on this occasion.
The last quarterly update, company states:
"Average grade of approximately 17.9 carats per tonne across 59,423 tonnes of mined and processed alluvial material"
1 lcm (loose cubic metre) of alluvial material weighs about 1.5 tonnes (I know this because I'm a Civil Engineer) so if the above statement is correct, we are recovering about 27 cts per lcm, previously the number of cts recovered was 17.5 per lcm, so there was certainly no fundamental issue with stone recovery of the mine.
Also, with regards to the rehabilitation, we don't know if for example, they had a visit from an environmental inspector who may have requested the rehabilitation of some previously worked areas, something the company hadn't planned for this year.
