Don't think this means much - it's just a list of the things that failed trials and will definitely make your nob fall off and your eyes pop out of your face if you try to take them for Covid. They could have included Draino and polonium-210 while they were at it. It is unnecessarily harsh on poor old interferons though - as if anyone is really trying to dose up wheezy old gents in back alley clinics ( outside of Havana anyway) In certain circles it may reinforce that old Faron prejudice, but on the other hand - hey - at least they're talking about Inteferons !!!

not semantics at all. Material tangible life changing diffference. Sprinter - the trial that carried all of the company's hopes for Covid. Oh and there was another trial too. The one the FDA paid for.
It's good to be positive and you and Mani are the King and Queen of Positiveville - but saying it's the same except we're not on a trial is just silly

The one we spent £40 million on, and now we're looking for any trial for any of the things SNG might work against but we can't fund it. And the Covid world has changed beyond recognition. Even if we know it could come howling back in a heartbeat, in January we were still right in the middle of it and therapeutic treasure was still cascading from the FDA table. Everything is different.

I think it's highly unlikely NIH will be following up on William Fischer's recommendation of a further outpatient trial unless the prevailing medical realities that stopped the Activ 2 program were to change significantly. Even then the cost to outcome ratio is so wildly off for SNG that it would also require much better bio-targeting which as yet does not exist. (Rates of hospitalisations now are roughly the same as in March when enrollment was stopped)
What we have to hope is that William S Fischer II has moved his laptop from the scuffed and chipped desk in A2 HQ and is settling down in the new plushly appointed Strive offices. (ok I know he's not actually there - but you get the picture) Strive will be peopled principally by the A3 team but there's gotta be room for a bright young upandcomer.

gunto yes i did say that the story was in part that of confirmation - and meant that comment in relation to mABS. (altho it's true of RNA as well) Whatever successes they'd both previously enjoyed they, the pandenic catapulted them to the forefront. Imagine the re-configuration of the original Wuhan vaccines without RNA technology. Many of us have the new jab in our systems already and many lives will be saved because the process is safe and does require the huge testing originally done (with apologies to those like Joeyd who find my blibnd faith in the technology naive )

I found the Vir story yesterday on this link. Decided not to post for fear of inflaming those who don't like to read about the wider picture. It's a better write up than the one Paladin shared. They're going after Influensa A - and then on to whatever else they can find solutions for.
Reminds me that I posted - probably 18 months ago - that this pandemic would celebrate 3 great breakthroughs (or confirmations) from the pandemic. RNA technology - Monoclonal antibodies and Interferons. So far the first 2 have cemented their positions at the heart of the med science industry and the 3rd is still waiting, despite a growing mountain of evidence.
Fruits's link about Sanofi and MeRicule was another example of RNA success and this payment to VIR confirms that the US will keep spending huge money in pursuit of monoclonal solutions. They've effectively said - keep finding them and we'll keeping paying for them. (Vir and GSK were responsible for Sotrovimab which was so successful against Delta but nixed by Omicron)
There are dozens of labs all over the world finding and trialing new monoclonals and their use is expected to revolutionise many different areas of medicine.

Regarding the couple of little links to Synairgen appearing here and there - I don't think any of that matters now. Giving your time to a highquality ITN programme is perfectly fine buty it will not advance the cause of SNG but even the tiniest fraction. The people who hold our fate in their hands know all they need to know about the drug. They don't need to bump into Philip Monk at some minor conference to be reminded that they really ought to think about supporting further trials. Synairgen either knows its short to medium term future - and has its partners/trials lined up - or the company and its shareholders are in for a long and cold winter.

Fruits what are you suggesting instead of a PT ? We still need a P3 don't we ? Covid should still be the primary target shouldn't it ? And why would anyone of the size and scale needed to get this drug moving forward JV when a buy out is easier and potentially hugely more lucrative. ?
