Recover is for treatments that specificaly target the areas damaged by LC, as discussed in this Nature article.
It's enough that the positive signals from this LC data help make the case for SNG as a Covid treatment. If anything else comes it'll come much further down the line but it would be incredibbly inlikely for SNG to be included on Recover.

Really good news. Whether the market notices or not is largely immaterial, but this adds extra weight to the arguments for further investigation. Loss of smell/taste are no longer major symptoms for Omicron - or even listed on the long list of outcomes but as Td says the fact that we have measurable data is more important. It's logical that any treatment that reduces severity of disease should also cut LC - as the worst cases come for people who were seriously ill.

Well I was talking initially about the specific Venture Capitalist that Fruits mentioned and their $5.9m investment in a small start up. .
The main point though is that we should be past this. Our partners (or new owners - my favourite option) should be Big Pharma.
If we've almost climbed Everest but been thrown back at the Hilary Step what do we do next ? Retreat to base camp ? Wait for abetter weather and try again - or decide we'll go home and do Snowdon instead ?
And furthermore - how is the venture capitalist to be repaid ? What form of investment is this ? Are they getting a piece of the company ? Does this mean a dilution of the shares ?

This is not in the same league as the last 2 forums the company were represented at. RM is busy and that's good but apart from Jannsen and the keynote speaker from AZ it doesn't really seem like the place where we'll find our platform trial. The confirmed speakers are venture capitalists and small bios in the main, but maybe RM has a couple of little side hussles organised.
The news about BA.2.75.2 is the big thing this weekend. If we're anywhere near getting onto a trial and someone is looking at SNG and wavering or unsure - anything that reminds the world that this variation is just a hair's breadth away from complete escape will be good for our drug's prospects.

If the Stockholm data is correct - and it's a small sample - then BA.2.75.2 will eventually become the dominant strain.

What matters then is whether the new bivalent vaccines - designed for the original strain and for Omicron BA.4/5 will still work against BA.2.75.
And whether any of the therapeutics will still work.
Molnupiravir and Paxlovid may still work as they work in a different way - and although Evusheld is kaput there are still potentially 2 monoclonals that will work. Sotrovimab - which didn't work against the earlier Omicron strains but does work again 2.75 and Bebtelovimab . And the possibility that Brii 196&198 will work and be authorised

So we're not necessarily looking at a doomsday scenario - even if this new strain spreads much more quickly. We can certainly say that unvaccinated or partially vaccinated or un boostered people will be at greater risk as we saw with the original Omicron variant. Faster spreading always = greater mortality.

Well maybe - but here's another perspective. Omicron created huge numbers everywere - but the outcomes were usually mild everywhere where vax and vax boosters had been used. A friend visiting from Hong Kong siad this was not the case in his community. Because of repeated lockdowns and closed airspaces a very large number of elderly people did not take up the offer of boosters - and nor did the authorities push them to do so in the way that we did. Older people thought - we're not going anywhere - cases are low - we're safe, and then Hong Kong deaths were higher for Omicron than almost anywhere else. i looked into it and it turned out to be true.
So you're right that people will stop taking boosters eventually but as long as Govts provide them and advise the right populations that they're still needed the protection should remain

yes - it'll be a long time - if ever. History tells us that pandemics DO end eventually - no matter how transmissable but we've got a very long way to go before that can happen .
