NIH knows the strength of the Activ2 data. It knew the margin by which the trial exceeded placebo almost a year ago.
Of all the recent positive markers A2 is perhaps the least important - unless we find ourselves in a world where neither vaxes nor therapeutics work. LC & COPD were both huge and unexpected signals which will help towards the inpatient platform trial and the TO that will eventually follow.

The great danger now is that with Covid testing gone completely in the US and UK and unhelpful statements from the WHO and the US President - we are sleep walking into the winter with none of the early warning systems that existed when Delta and Omicron came calling. 9% is the most recent number I can see for the new variant in the US and UK. It took a very long time to get to this figure in the States and has only recently started to spread around the globe - but if it is more transmissable than BA.5 - as it seeems it is by several factors - and if it is as deadly (it doesn't need to be more deadly to kill more people if it has a spread advantage ) then we won't know we're in trouble until we're right in the middle of it again. The genomic sequencing that tells us which strain is prevalent relies to a large extent on mass testing of the population and this is entirely absent now.
]Against this we have the new bivalent vaccines - which are already going into the arms of the oldest and most at risk - but for which we have no data at all against BA.2.75.2. Designed for Wuhan and BA4 & 5 it may still work - and it should still have the same protection against severe disease - but it really might not protect the wider population at all. And there's no urgency in dosing anyway. My parents in their late 80s are booked in for mid October - and this will be their fourth jab - but they won't be protected until the start of November. Other age groups are not being called forward yet and there's no public campaign to remind people to take up their jab when offered.
And nobody is wearing masks - anywhere.
Schools will be the canaries again, and we'll know if the next wave is with us when student and staff absences begin to escalate.

Hopefully we will see evidence that the new vaccines will protect against BA2.75.2 and that will be a tremendous reassurance if it comes. Biden and the WHO's comments relate to the BA.5 pandemic - if it remains the dominant strain we can be reasonably confident that we'll get through the winter - but if not then we'll be right back to square one.

Remembering that as things stand at the moment SNG is not a treatment, and that if it did get onto Recover it would be as a trialist for one of the major symptomatic areas of LC - relating most likely to breathlessness, for which we scored well (28.3%) . There's a world of difference between a Covid drug that does well with the most at-risk in hospital and in the process protects against Long Covid, and a treatment that reverses the damage caused by Long Covid. Our COPD data supports this well however so it's not a complete leap of faith to begin a trial to test SNG against LC. As there is nothing else out there now it might be another possible way forward.

The really important thing is that RM is delivering on his AGM promises. If he can make good on the biggie - and have SNG trialing this winter - then the ship will be righted, the sp will start to move, and we will all be looking forward to a bright future. Somehow the market is still not interested - but it will take note when SNG is announced on Strive.

JJess Vaccines are still therapeutics though. They don't stop people getting Covid but they prepare the body to resist the worst effects of it just as every other therapeutic does. And they're much more effective as Long Covid preventatives because almost everyone has had 2 or 3 doses - and a very large number of the most at risk will continue to receive boosters. .

We'll be teating those already in hospital and identified as high risk - rather than the early outpatient admninistration of Pax or Molnupiravir. Our patients may even already have been treated unsuccessfully with those drugs. Either way the percentage of need and possible poor outcomes will be much greater when the patients are in hospital

there are lots of studies proving the post vaccine reducton in Long Covid Mani - if you managed to find one that supports the opposite then well done.

SNG is not " a broad spectrum, Long Covid treatment drug " It is a respiratory therapeutic which as a bi-product of its Covid efficacy will reduce LC for some patients/conditions. Just as Vaccines do - just as every other effective covid treatment will do. Paxlovid and Molnupiravir are running LC tests in the real world and that data will almost certainly also show a reduction in LC.

HSD is not a constantly negative poster - but this discussion is a sideline and of little real relevance right now. Let's just be happy the company has such good data which will support its inclusion on the large platform trial we're awaiting.

I've explained how it works HSD. Pfizer's shareholders trust them to spend the M&A money wisely - and they're relaxed that there will be fails along the way. All those Mabs that were approved and then deleted were risky partnerships and acquisitions. Some of them came good before Omicron or Delta knocked them out - and some like SAB for eg were just expensive failures

We don't need to be shouting 61% though about this news though. Fatigue and breathlessness are the KEY symptoms and those figures are pretty decent anyway at 35.4% and 28.3 respectively.
Loss of smell and tast in Omicron is 13-16% compared to 44% for Delta. The same study - linked below also showed smaller decreases in fatigue and breathlessness

HSD those maths don't stack up do they ? Acquire a promising drug for £400m (say) and then somehow lose Billions ?
Most of the revenue big pharma derives from new drugs comes from the speculative acquisition of promising treatments.
Investors trust their big companies to work like this as they've seen it again and again. I could make a very long list (and have done before) showing which Billion $ drugs came from which tiny research and discovery companies, and the partnerships, licensing and outright buyouts along the way, but it's enough to state that almost everything that's been approved for Covid making the parent company billions, came from somewhere esle.

Anyway it's neither here nor there. We don't want a buyer sniffing around now. We want to wait until the value has recovered or the company has something solid in the works - like Strive - to back up its current vulnerabily
