dippfs you post is entirley correct - and Tommy's response disingenous - if not outright deceitful. Recovery may be allowing existing trialists to complete ( and last we heard it hadn't decided) but it is not a live viable option for future candidates. Others may have more data on the mooted Flu trial but last I heard that was still looking for a sponsor, and Strive is just out there somewhere. Nothing published to say 4-6 weeks - but if it came from Stacey Adam (via Td's special relationship) then she also told us it would begin in early September.
Against this is the illogicality of the recent hires and the specific nature of 2 of them - which suggests Synairgen must think something is imminent - but we heard RM today say that trialing for Covid is going to be difficult from now on. I'd take his word ofr it and the evidence of the trials that have already been stopped - including our own A2 - P3

I listened to it twice Manifesto and it sounded like he has no expectations of a Covid trial - l;et alone Strive. When the interviewer says directly - are you moving on from Covid and RM answers that they're picking up where they left off with the other work - and doesn't immediately take the opportunity to say "Oh no - we're still really hopeful that we'll be trialed and EUA'd for Covid " - then you know what the real story is. As I said it doesn't rule out Strive but if NIH are considering SNG they haven't given the company the slightest of hints. The whole interview was about what SNG can do for other conditions and how the covid data helps that.

btw my point about the PT is that RM's demeanour is not that of a man who knows he has something in his back pocket but can't speak about it yet - and neither is it that of a man who has had high level convos with Govt regulators about the chances of an imminent trial. Which is not the same as saying we won't get onto Strive or another PT (there isn't another for Covid) but he'd have been much more upbeat if there was something in the offing ( a sailor's term he'd approve of no doubt) and if conversations were ongoing.

I was about to post that we're still where we were before this RNS and no need to panic - and that we've known it was going to be all or nothing since Feb 21st - but listening to that interview has dampened my spirits considerably. Several quotes, including the one Billy has posted tells us that they have not been successful in getting on to Strive and that the company is back to where it started - albeit with some useful expensively acquired data - looking for someone to help it on its way for COPD or whatever else it can find.
The interviewer tactfully avoids the failure of Sprinter and RM doesn't allude to it

We have plenty to celebrate from the recent news and we really don't need A2 data now. Whatever the state of the pandemic - or the efficacy of not of other treatments and /or vaccines, NIH will continue to invest in new Covid drugs and SNG001 is a prime candidate for Strive. NIH has all the data it needs to confirm this.
Not utterly blinkered as to the possibility of other trials in other areas but the Strive platform is specifically looking at hospital drugs and should be looking as a matter of some urgency at the only drug to have shown statistically significant data for the most at-risk patients. I'll be gutted if something else is chosen first frankly - but not surprised.

I've investigated further. the remarks Dr Offit made were in relation to BA1 and made on August 31st. The link I posted is from Moderna's new trial data published on September 16th. Dr Offit's remarks are out of date and I'm sure he'd retract them given the new Moderna evidence.

I'm not suggesting Offit is wrong. Perhaps he's talking about Pfizer. Your post doesn't say which of the new vaccines he's talking about. Or where the 8 MICE claim comes from. He mentions BA1 and that is not what the bivalent boosters have been designed or trialed for.

The study I posted IS real however. It WAS for Moderna's bivalent mRNA-1273.214 vaccine. (the one I'm about to get)
It WASN'T tested on 8 mice but 100s of actual people.

Anyone looking in might recall that JoeyD - despite his impeccable credentials, is a long term and committed anti-vaxer. Has been crying foul since AZ, Moderna and Pfizer first announced their results in late 2020. The pre-eminent vaccines in a campaign that has saved 20 million lives globally.

It's just not true that the bivalent vaxes have not been trialed. The bivalent mRNA-1273.214 was added to the ongoing Moderna trial which started in March

BF.7 might be a blessing Fruits if it stops BA.2.75.2 ( the subject of much concern on here ) gaining a foothold.
Remember when we discovered that AZ's vaccine didn't work against the Beta variant - and SA stopped using it. Spread of B.1.351 stopped when Delta arrived, and AZ worked well against Delta.

Off to get my second booster now (look away Prof and Doc83 ) Caught Omicron at Christmas and - just 3 months after my first booster - was absolutely fine. A mild sore throat. I was very lucky given Type 1 diabetes/ RA to catch this variant at this point of protectedness. Other healthier same age family members caught it in mid summer and they were very unwell. Not hospital unwell - but in bed for a week and really feeling rotten. My brother in law went to bed in red check pj's and woke up on pink stained sheets such was the intensity of his fever. And Tzap recently described how hard BA.5 has been for a couple of his friends recently
It's 9 or 10 months since most had their first booster and even if the bivalent vaccines only work for 6 months I'm very happy to get mine

Can't read that unfortunately Tommy - presumably the "reason to doubt it beats the original vaccine" is based on research ? Can you cut and paste the relevant section of the article or post the link to the study if references please.

Surely the FDA was right to allow Pfizer and Moderna to tweak the vaccines ? It's a small alteration containing 2 mRNA strands rather than one, and the safety has not been compromised. Moderna's at least has been trialed in humans - as shown in the link below, and shows efficacy and safety. Clearly repeating the process of 10s of thousands trialed in 2020 would be a lengthy, unnecessary and deadly exercise.

Obviously if BA.4/5 are overtaken and the next variant is more deadly then they'll need to repeat the process - just as the flu vaccine is adjusted for the prevalent strain every year. We should celebrate the fact that mRNA technology allows this forensic adjustment

Keep up Manifesto And Td I posted this article days ago and said that Paxlo and Molnupravir were conducting LC analysis in the real world. I've also suggested Gilead as a possible trialing partner many times. Remdesevir is the most trialed and partnered drug of the pandemic. (I made a pile cream joke I seem to remember)
