gunto yes of course I understand what they are, and that by default whatever we do in a new hospital trial would be alongside Dexa and Remdes. Remdes also has an outpatient authorisation however and is similarly effective throughout infection. We have to get authorisation for the right patients in that gap between arriving in hospital and being treated with Dexa and if there's a way of partnering with Remdes we should be trying do it . I posted research from the states a long while back that showed huge over prescription of Dexa in hospitals after its EUA in 2020 - emergency drs were giving it to everyone on arrival - and there must be a chance that it affected Sprinter's results in 2021 in places like India . ( there's also evidence that Dexa is not the wonder drug it was initially thought to be and has no effect whatsoever if given too early )
No chance of dislodging it at £5 per patient - but getting EUA'd for that in-between period is where future trials need to be focused.

We need to be talking to Gilead. Remdesevir is the drug we need to combine with to try to displace Dexa before patients reach ICU.

that's exactly the question I asked Fruits. Requoting large chunks of RNS's is not particularly helpful either. The data produced by this study -will benefit the whole of med science and is not in any way targeted for SNG as the drug is not being used. What would have been really useful would have been the bloodsfrom Sprinter and of course we don't have those. Hopefully A2's deep dive will be useful though. In 2 or 3 years this data might help support anther trial but we'd hope to be much farther down the road before this eventuality.

Th Janssen collaboration is very interesting. Engaging in a long term trial with Southampton Uni rather than directly with Synairgen but with support from Syn. An almost entirely altruistic act to provide and share bio markers with the whole medical profession. It means nothing in the short or even medium term for SNG but does make you wonder what the Janssen boys were doing in Southampton in the first place.

Hardly wasted if it takes away Molnupiravir's EUA.

yes - you were certainly deeply skeptical JD, and you're proven right with this. It's how big pharma work though isn't it. AZ attempting to include the eroneous extra trial data from Brazil in its results - which was called out and to this day has meant AZ hasn't sold a single dose in the US. Remembering that Merck's trial was stopped for efficacy by the IDMC and the FDA - and from that point it was always likely to be authorised.

At the end of the second quarter of 2022 Merck had made $5.5billion in sales from Molnupiravir.

Is this not likely to also be linked to the same factors that stopped SNG progressing to its A2-P3, and cancelled many other antivirals - namely waning admissions and less severe disease from Omicron and the 99% vaxed status of the trial population.
The original EUA was based on 8 deaths on placebo and 0 on drug at interim analysis of 775 patients out of a 1550 patient trial. A trial which ended in Aug 2021 and would have been conducted entirely against the much more dangerous Delta variant.
Which isn't to say Merck 's size and scale didn't help enormously - and we know that's been a constant inhibitor for SNG's prospects - but its also fair to point out that the EUA had nothing to do with this trial.

What is certain now is that the MHRA and FDA should both cancel the authorisations, and that of course adds extra lustre to the case for our variant resistant therapeutic.

Clearly Polygon knew not one single thing more than we did when they took their huge punt on Synairgen - and clearly they have no substantive clue about what will happen with either the pandemic (nobody does) or Govt supoort for trials etc (it's entirely political - if the Republicans win the midterms the whole thing will be in even greater jeopardy than it already is. And if the we get through the winter without another bad wave everything willl be scaled back) You've posted this yourselves.
I have a perspective and one part of that is to call out Tommyd's more extreme flights of fancy - such as the post that said AZ had offered nearly £400m for Synairgen in 2015 - which was arrant and easily disprovable nonsense. Now he's floating £3-£5billion again - dropping it in casually.
Fruits - would love to hear about those mitigations. How Polygon didn't lose 100s of millions on Feb 21st please. (on paper at least) Tax write- off doesn't do it.

Let's celebrate but not get carried away. Poly throw a very encouraging £2m onto the table but that does not take us - even hypothetically - back into the lalaland of $3-5 billion. $5 billion remember being £25 a share for the little slips of paper you are clutching that today are worth less than 20p. Poly want their money back and if possible they want aprofit but they're not a philanthropic concern and neither are they likely to wait for the end of another trial that might fail again. They can only get to break even and beyond with a trial. They're still gambling - along with Doc83, and anyone else who has averaged down since Feb 21st and with pretty much the same insight - that a trial is likely to happen. They like the same stuff we've liked recently, but they haven't got a single clue about what will happen with the pandemic or whether govts will continue supporting trials or what else will be coming down the track to treat hospitalised patients.
If they are representing a dark cloaked figure then it's even less likely they'll be allowed to stick around longer than is necessary for the future owner to get the drug for the cheapest possible price.

This was a recurrent theme throughout 2020 and 2021 when shareholders were desperate for the drug to find recognition - and get into the fight. When we were certain Sprinter would succeed and hoped the Americans had chosen SNG for a reason. And the world was ablaze. Covid accelerated the temporary approval process for many drugs but they did still usually have to meet primary endpoints in larger trials than SG016 and A2-P2.
