the important thing with Tommy’s post is that all of the scientists responding - the ones with their actual names and qualifications in their twitter handles - say ‘Nah’ - bad science - bad methodology - and where’s the peer review ?
Washburton’s fans seem to only consist of joe soap saying ‘ I’ve been saying this for years !! ‘
None of us - not even Brand - are qualified to understand the evidence presented but circumstantially you’d say it’s a crock of sh.it - whilst waiting for a peer review that will never come

"Effect of Corticosteroid Therapy on COVID-19, Influenza Coinfection Evaluated"
and concludes that further research should focus on .... "the effect of steroids in COIVD-19 and influenza coinfected patients. "
or in layman's terms - exactly the same thing as this one did.
Luckily it has nothing to do with us but it' good to know there are other terribly designed trials underway.

it's all useful extra data - originally intended to support the next covid trial, which is why they collected the samples and conducted the follow up. If we can't test the ME end of the LC spectrum then there's no therapeutic use for the research as such except to support further Covid trials, and as general evidence of respiratory viral clearance which could help for flu or COPD submissions I guess.

pleaaee don't ask Brooke to clarify whether 10s of thousands means doses or treatments. You like to tell us how busy they all are - why not leave her to get on with some of that real work instead of wasting time on a hypothetical.

My take by the way is that they have 10s of thousands of doses, not treatments. They said clearly that they'd produce enough to support trials and test the pipleline and no more than that - so these doses were meant for the A2-P3 trial

These doses must be a year old now btw. Made in prep for P3 of Activ 2 - or even earlier for Sprinter. Freezer life was a lot longer than that though wasn't it. ? 3 years maybe ?

oh sorry - I forgot your theory on LC - but if you read back you'll find my rebuttal of that theory, and many responses agreeing that a stright-up LC treatment trial is incredibly unlikely.
Your language is tremendously positive though. Suggesting - in fact almost guaranteeing - that you are privy to information the rest of us can't see. ? Adding that little IMHO at the end of your comment only serves to highlight the stridency of the previous sentences.

HSD there are no other funded PT trials that would be appropriate. Mani can only be talking about JVs for Flu or Copd. No chance of a Covid JV - except on the most disadvantageous terms. If any Big pharma liked our Covid data they'd just buy the company and get it done themselves.
Remember that Proactive interview - RM did not say the word Sprinter once and did not reference it in any way except the most general. I'm increasingly of the view that something negative happened between his bullish " hell yeah we'll be dosing this winter !!! " at the AGM on June 30th, and the Proactive interview on Sept 29th.

At no point in this lengthy answer does he say they still have the ambition of a P3 to confirm the positives from Sprinter.

2 possible scenarios for this change in 2 months. The first is that STRIVE said no - we can't or won't take the drug forward. The second - more optimistic - is that they knew the LC data was good and had already seen the COPD data - and in the new "Covid is Over" world, decided to return to the company's core ambitions - perhaps with the promise a]of some sort of JV for one of the other conditions they mention.
Obviously - as I've posted before and many seem to agree with - it the latter was the case and they cannot find another way to stand up the excellent post-hoc analysis of Sprinter and the supportive LC data, and have therfore given up on Covid, it would be a terrible shame for the company, for us as shareholders, and for the people who will die.
Hopefully someone looking in with more ambition will grab a hold of the drug and take it forward.

apologies early in that piece I said Republican controlled Senate - which was corrected later. Demcocrats control the Senate but need at least 10 Republicans to support the funding.
In real terms the failure to grant the extra funding also means the "free to all " policy which has been a cornerstone of the US response to Covid, in a country with no meaningful public health system, may soon end, with Americans paying for vaccines and therapeutics as early as Jan 23

The clock is always ticking but even more so as far as US support goes. If Republicans win the midterms they will almost certinly attempt to pull the plug on further Covid funding. They've paused it already when the Republican controlled Senate blocked the White House's request for $22 billion. This is in limbo now with horrible horse trading going on with offers of support for parts of the bill if energy pipelines through certain states are agreed. Old fashioned graft at work in full view. Biden's statement that the pandemic is over couldn't have come at a worse time. Midterms are in 3 weeks and if Republicans gain control of the House of Representatives, (polls say there's a 75% chance of this happening) and ooverturn a slim Democrat majority in the Senate, Biden will be a lame duck - abortion will be outlawed almost from conception and the prospect of a second Trump Presidency (although remote now) will come ainto sharp focus. Covid will be well and truly over

Just for clarity the Activ programme and all of NIH's Covid responses to the pandemic have been super fast - only matched by the biggest pharmas spending huge amounts of money on really big trials. Even the creation of the global testing and trialing network that is Activ was a world first. Just because they delayed releasing Synairgen's data
does not mean they haven't trialed and EUAd other drugs in record time. Bamlan's first NIH trial was completed in 6 months and EUAd a month later. SAB got their P2 results back in 5 months.
A PT now with NIH is still clearly the fastest route to EUA with its hundreds of ready made trial sites and decades of experience through the aids trialing network. If RM is giving signals (as he certainly did at the last Proactive interview) that the company is pivoting or "refining" away from Covid, this could only mean that NIH has said no - for now - to a place on Strive.
Nothing personal in this - it was just the stupidest comment on the board today and the most obviously untrue. Plenty of good things going on at the moment but to attempt to recast our knight in shining armour as a sluggard is rather disrespectful. NIH is the only institution in the whole world to take useful notice of this incredible drug and i still hope it will help us across the line.

that means they're asking around to see if anyone wants to budddy up for LC or COPD - because they were pleasantly surprised after so long to see something worthwhle for COPD and at the same tiime they're happy with the LC results, but can't afford to do anything about it themselves.
It doesn't mean the focus has changed. Covid is still the key that unlocks all of the doors. And they are certainly not expecting anyone to invite them onto a solo LC or COPD trial.

They were definitely talking about a Covid PT in the Sprinter post hoc - just a few months ago. If you believe RM's confidence of being on a trial this winter was not referring to Covid - then you either know more than the rest of us or it's a personal opinion.
Nothing in the recent dangerous changes in the pandemic suggests that Synairgen should be thinking about anything except moving heaven and earth to get trialed and approved for C-19.
LC only exists in the Covid sphere - although hopefully the research will greatly benefit ME sufferers. COPD will always be there. These are the bonuses - not Covid.
