RE: European Market4 Feb 2025 17:36
SpicyTuna- I do accept and agree with some of your points but I think where you do not understand the issue is you are tying it to trade alone. In Trumps mind he is using trade as leverage because this is about drugs, specially fentanyl. Yes, he has mentioned trade deficits with the specific countries targeted but the primary issue is DRUGS. Now, I think you will at least agree with me that the US does not have the same issue with the UK/EU. Thus I think that the chances Trump will introduce tariffs against the EU and particularly the UK are smaller. The US is currently enjoying larger and lucrative exports of LNG for example, to the EU. And even if he did this would increase the cost to exports which we are not even making anyway. So 8 reiterate my view that it is not an issue for ITM. You have made points about a broader economic impact but imho this does not affect ITM whatsoever. Now, further down the road, once we’ve established a firm foothold in the European market and we want to expand our market to the USA - and Trump has Europe tariffs now that’s another matter.
We have to keep in mind that this is not an optional market (for green hydrogen) , a nice to have, it is seen as a strategic necessity in Europe and therefore will proceed either with or without a bit of inflation or investors anxiety.
