Thought it might be interesting to look back on what the scientific experts were saying back in the summer. A report was published on 14th July which was chaired by our very own (SIR) Stephen Holgate. Link attached. It shows a graph of projected possible deaths this winter if NO vaccine, treatments etc. And it’s based on two different R rates. The difference between and R of 1.5 and 1.7 is stark and frightening. What it also shows is that based on current daily deaths (which don’t seem that high) we are currently on a trajectory worse than the worst case scenario shown on the graph. I repeat that is taking into account no vaccine and no treatments but it does show how serious the current situation really is and how critically important a vaccine and/or treatments is going to be if we are to avoid a second wave worse than the first one. Look at the graph and you will see that daily deaths are currently worse than the possible worst case scenario suggested.

Quite eye opening- scary even

Troyboy the issue has been regarding recruitment- that it’s been slow due to a lack of patients during the summer months. We need an update on recruitment to get an idea on when we might get results.

It’s worth noting why the Queens Birthday Honours, which are normally published in June, were delayed this year so that people who have played a crucial role in the Covid pandemic can be recognised. Therefore the specific references to Synairgen and Beta Interferon in the articles are not just part of the overall story. They ARE the story. He’s been recognised this year because of the groundbreaking treatment for Covid, which of course has other applications too.

The point is that I believe this is our clearest proof and endorsement yet that SNG are not forgotten amongst all that’s been going on. This is high establishment recognising what is going on in Southampton University and how important and relevant it is. We can take even greater confidence from this accolade for one of our joint founders.

PS.I wonder, surely the news is RNS’able as SH is a key figure in the company and without doubt the award is at least partly connected to his SNG001 work?

Tonlin- yes regarding Patrick Vallance there is a clear conflict of interest here. How can this man be allowed to make decisions, or at least carry a great deal of influence, when he stands to personally benefit from them. From a so called scientific man it stinks to high heaven.

Today’s early fall is probably because of Chumps latest comments about Regeneron.

Let’s be honest, if the FDA allow themselves to be forced openly and in a nakedly political fashion to authorise a drug with NO clinical data their credibility (the FDA) is finished. Bullied by a dictatorial president who may only have weeks left in office. The FDA would be a laughing stock.

CapitalCity, that’s pretty much been my conclusion having observed the trading patterns for the past few weeks. Certainly at least since Venrock declared. You can see that there is both an Institutional buyer AND seller through the regular stream of 5 and 10k minimum block trades. These are not PI trades. At first I though it was separate II’s - one selling and one buying but now I’m convinced it’s been the yanks manipulating the SP. It makes sense because they initially bought in at 200+ and if they decided they had already taken enough shares for their strategic interest why not try and use their leverage on the SP to lower their average by forcing the price down - which they do particularly early in the trading day thereby setting the trend - and then buy back a bit cheaper later that day or the next day. We can’t do that but with their level of holding they can scare a few more PIs out and also utilise the low volume of interest currently to their advantage. This explains perfectly why, despite the amount of larger block trades there has barely been any change in declarable holdings. The Venrock RNS the other day was the best clue we’ve had so far as to their market games ;).
