Toptiger hi, I fully agree with the need for Oil but not the inflated price. A reporter at Davos asked, ‘when $70 Oil is required to balance economies fiscal budgets wouldn’t $100 be adequate to avoid a global recession’, there was no reply. Transport is going to be a luxury commodity when around 40% of current drivers are off the road because of the cost implications of EV’s & for those that can afford, the inconvenience.

What happens when the commodity is so strong that it prices it’s self out of the market because it’s unaffordable & or it causes economies to collapse into Recession. Which is where we will be in the coming Weeks. It makes no difference to the commodity traders, they will just switch from over weight Long to over weight Short.

Many aspects including share pricing, the auction system, how prices are moved, then detailed, how the quotes are calculated, who enters them, the five main reasons for the A trades. Use of the different Venues & matching systems. Sadly you can’t learn this at Uni, it’s bespoke, in-house training only. To put this into perspective even Fund Managers don’t know the fine detail. They just select & buy stocks for a Fund. Hedge Fund managers should be better informed.

Bailiff, yes it sounds sensational but news reports currently are of people at food banks that can’t afford to run their cars or buy food after paying utility bills. My understanding is that UK wholesale Gas rose 30% yesterday. We have some Gas storage but it won’t last for Months. The Fed will likely be raising interest rates again next Month by another 0.75%. WTI was $123 Tuesday it’s currently just below $114.

Yesterday Russia cut off Gas to Germany & France & a fire has stopped a US LPG terminal from exporting. So will there be power cuts because We have run out of gas / Gas generated Electricity / cell phone towers etc etc, not to mention Inflation & the R word, Recession. which will cause Oil demand destruction.

Don’t read too much into general trading patterns. Oil might be due for a pullback.

General trading. Based on the 31st close, I calculated CNE’s sp at around £2.27 including completion of the buy back @ £2.00 a share, so it might be a bit toppy. Just because there’s a merger, that doesn’t mean monetary value will appear from nowhere. In the absence of deep pockets it will be ‘business-as-usual’ but with twice the volume to shift. This will be interesting with TLW’s, looow volume trading.

Hi bailiff, that’s the gamble. CNE may have more to rise & if Oil pulls back TLW may have more to fall. Whatever occurs in the future, a share price will be found that generates the most Order-Flow because that’s where the Industry makes it’s money & with twice the issuance that might be at a lower price. Global Recession is just around the corner.

The Industry will be working positions held. The object of After-Market reporting is to minimise price impact. Thus large trades at higher prices should be ignored. Between May 31st & the 6th of July CNE has £7m746,342 left of it’s share buy back to complete. This may account for most of the recent rise & will complete at some point.

Your not far off with your maths Anton. Yes, if CNE’s market cap increases & TLW’s decreases, they will be of equal value. One share price with twice the ‘share- issuance’, which will make it twice as difficult to move, in either direction. A horizontal graph, status quo for Tullow shareholders.

Putting the merger to one side. Regarding the share price management, it’s business as usual with the same objectives & dynamics.

Rose late Friday due to: two Greek tankers being sized by Iran, Dollar drop & a tiny reduction in the US Rig count. All of which may change soon, so an Oil pullback maybe perceived. Once a move in one direction is exhausted a sharp move in the other direction can arise due to the mechanics of Futures contracts. Also extremely low volume being Tullow traded, minimum participation from Joe Public, in part seasonal & of cause profit takers.

Announced this morning. ENQ has been down 12%. If this is applicable to Tullow it’s possible this might go the same way once the mornings large sale has been worked. Oil up, it will be interesting to see what transpires.

Chuckle, BumBum I was being sarcastic. Benefit from zero Inflation means a static share price. I know the performance for investors since the start of 2021 has been horrendous & I know the reasons why. I have also indicated this in previous posts.

This is a great inflation proof Investment. With Inflation affecting practically everything Worldwide, partly due to the Oil price increase. This is one of the few places to Invest & benefit from zero Inflation.

Hi Stuart, yes if it increases profits, adjusts the debt structure & ultimately allows for the holy grail: Dividends. Then Assurance co’s, Pension Funds & Income Funds etc will buy in.

Alternatively, you can spend some time in the banking areas pubs, which will currently cost you around £6 a pint. Knowledge gained will explain how the Professions conduct their trades & thus you will be able to calculate your trade exit prices. Understand the difference between Tullow’s 7p to 60p+ moves & why it will require external capital inflows to move the stock higher. Which in a low volume environment is limited. Plus all the technical stuff not discussed on these bb’s.

Yes over the next decade things should improve but in the meantime you can save yourself money by turning off your PC & using a rule to draw a horizontal line on a piece of paper commencing 2021. Then hand draw a squiggly line above & below the line to represent the sp & use as a an accurate graph.

No surprise there. If those knocking out the marketing aimed at PI’s would like to see the stock increase in value. It might be an idea to get on the phone to the guys managing the book & suggest tweaking the Algo. Low volume coupled with day-traders afternoon outflows equalling morning inflows equals a flat close. Wash & repeat tomorrow…….
