Tullow doesn’t own it’s shares, it sold them at IPO. It can only ‘try’ to influence them via RNSs. Same as you relinquishing control if you sell a house or vehicle etc. Someone does manage the listing but it’s not Tullow & not necessarily for everyone’s benefit.

Why should TLW correlate with Oil. Oil is a commodity, TLW is a company that doesn’t own the shares that carry it’s name. And are weighted down by debt. The merger would have eased some of that debt but that’s not the case now so back to status quo. Which is a very low PI participation, volume traded UK listing.

Must be the best Trading stock on the UK market. Due to the high level of participation, it’s a win win for the Industry pulling the strings & PI’s.

Used time & time again. They don’t even hide what they are doing, so obvious.

Hi trading4good, Stock prices are managed with Long Short positions. If your trading ideally you need to understand the mechanics.

Yesterdays values:
Open up 39.84 x issue = MK £505m245,616.74 = SP 39.84
Days total traded value at close £6m748,160.37
Lets assume all the days trades are sales, so deduct this from the market cap
= £498m497,456.37 / issue = SP 39.30
So why did it close at 36.45 ? why did the after market AIM MTF trades go through at 39p+. What is the missing element ?

Southcoastbather hi & thanks for your valid point. Key point there: any ‘one’. As it happens yesterdays Short was around £361,433.23. But a larger position could be pooled between many firms.

The Shorts listed above are on the Retail side of the counter & thus are obliged to disclose. It’s not the whole picture. The Industry positions will dwarf that. Based on the maths the stock traded below it’s true value which was over 39p for most of the day. Some of the After market trades indicate the correct value. Even when stocks are trending up, the Industry will still maintain equal Short positions because they are used for Long position risk insurance. The Industry does not suffer losses.

CGT is paid on Capital-Gains ie profits on your trading or say house sale, over the exempt amount. Dividends are taxed as income tax. Which is completely separate. EG income: wages, pension & dividends are in the same tax category. Is this being reduced to 19% ?

It’s common with online cloths shopping in the UK to have around 75% of clothing returned. Sellers have to pay for the return postage because all competitors do. So their only making money from 25% less the combined postage fees. Many suppliers find the practice unprofitable & pack up. The service & goods are fine, it’s the system that is unworkable. A well known food retailer offers free home delivery, which is unprofitable & funded by sales made in their stores.

Hi Super, I think the merger will succeed regardless of what some large shareholders want. CNE’s sp might be elevated for a reason, to prevent voting rights being increased. It best for the company listing & the Industry that makes it’s money from Order-Flow-Volume. HBR is a good example.

The excitement starts after the merger. When the disgruntled CNE ‘income’ Investors that invested for a big dividend, start off loading into loads of liquidity.

People don’t see a lot of things, how the stock market works is one of them.

Supercooper hi, There was some very large investments in Tullow pulled, prior to the 2020 bottom. If things improve that investment might return otherwise status quo will continue. I know it’s frustrating but the Oil Industry has lost it’s investment attraction for a number of reasons. Looking at a three year graph the traded volume has declined over the period. Unless company’s can grow their profits most stocks simply Side-Channel. The FT100 peeked at 6999 in December 1999, look where it is now.

Stocks do not continually go up. The nearest to that concept are huge US Co’s that are international & thus big enough to continually grow their profits. That said the US market might take another leg down in October. Professionals stated a few Months ago that the Oil trade which commenced in 2020, was over. Analysts have predicted higher prices for Tullow & theoretically they might be right but they are Analysts. Analysts do not run Tullow, mergers, the stock market or control Oil prices.

Unless the debt is reduced nothing will change with Tullow until it’s wound up. My guess is that Rahul is trying his best to correct this. Against all the odds, many Cne shareholders don’t want it because they want a big dividend, Some of Tlw’s don’t want it. The Bond Holders probably same & the Industry that owns most of Tlw’s shares are having to hold back with activity while it’s pending. No matter how good news is, stocks only go up if ‘money’ is input & therein lies the issue with UK listings.

3Bobbit hi, your correct in your appraisal. The Stock Market has a rulebook, the problem is it’s kept secret. If it was known, everything that you see would become crystal clear. The issue is that nothing works as you think it does & the reality is so alien that people don’t believe it. Or want too because it has nothing to do with investing as folk perceive it. People have a preconceived view of the Stock Market & the marketing supports that but that’s not the reality.

The 37p trade had zero volume. It may have been a glitch or it might be used as an Algo reference price. Sometimes these trades are used to distort the graph. Take your pick. When the lift has reached the top it can only go down, which might be the case here.

Hi Geng, do you have a view on this years, 8 Month chart ? Would you say it’s unusual or are you aware of other stocks with similar charts.
