Something odd happening at the moment, this as spent all day moving the odd .1 or .5 of a penny as suddenly started leaping up and down at nearly 3p a pop, any thoughts?

You know Divi Collector, all my limited logic and knowledge leads me to disagree with you. It would mean this share growing by around 14% 2yrs running, something it just doesn't do, however I've a feeling you might be right, let's hope so.

Well I said in April this would finish at 246, maybe slightly pessimistic, but don't think I'll be far out.

Have to say I'm a pensioner and mix with loads of pensioner's, I love them to pieces, but they do try your patience. They have (private) pensions 50% of which there boss contributed, their contribution was tax exempt, they then get 25% of what they haven't paid tax on , tax free again. You the ask them to pay a little in tax and they complain like fook. They also get free travel, concessions on theatre etc , free prescriptions, free TV licences after a certain age, and stupidly the government spends tax payers money helping them heat their houses while they are on holiday. I love my pensioner mates but they should shut up moaning and remember how they struggled when they worked and have a little more sympathy for those working now.

Inflation is pretty irrelevant when it comes to public investments. Private companies get their eyes and hands on taxpayers money and costs go through the roof every time. Rip off Britain is alive and well.

Thanks both for your replies. Yes be nice to buy them cheap and watch them rise. I suspect they will be a fair bit higher than this year end.

Excuse my ignorance, but for those of us reinvesting our divi, how is the price per share decided? Is it the price ex div day or the price on day of purchase? If the latter I'm in no rush for the price to rise yet.

Personally I treat this one investment differently to all my others. This ( only in theory of course) is the if everything else gets spent the fund I leave my children. Therefore I hope it's a very long term investment, bung the divs in the pot and leave it alone.

It's high time the banks where made to pay back all they owe to the taxpayer. They where bailed out and sometimes taken over with billions of taxpayers money. They were then sold back underpriced at the taxpayers expense. They were given billions of taxpayers money for quantative easing. They took that and basically laughed at the taxpayers, instead of using it for our benefit. Feck the banks They owe us big style time we had at least a portion of our money back.

That is true, but we are still doing fine here, if you compared Aviva to Rolls Royce over the last year does that mean Aviva isn't doing well ? We are here, and if everywhere I have money stashed away performed at this level, every year I would be very happy.

Agreed (for now) this, while actually having a really good year so far, does seem to find 2.60 a bit of a barrier it cannot pass.

Robelo. We all know scroungers and illegals are a stupid waste of money, we also know chucking them into every debate as the easy answer to every question is the simple and popular answer to every question. However they are not an excuse for justifying every other bad decision , I also struggle with the cliques about a life paying taxes. Its not like they got nothing back all their lives for the taxes they paid, education for their children, health care for their parents, etc etc. We need to use what little money we have wisely. That doesn't include heating the houses of people on winter cruises ( and yes I do know loads) or in their time shares.

I'd love to live in a country that could afford to support all, but we don't, I sat in a posh hotel in Scotland just before Christmas last year, listening to 4 women who where having 3 holidays in a month, moaning the government wasn't going to help keep their places warm while they were away. Sorry many more sensible ways of spending limited funds.

Thought that through well Wartdog. Nothing wrong with supporting those who need it.In fact if you weren't stupidly throwing money at couples on£70000 a year.You would have more for those who genuinely need it.

Country is screwed, it literally has been betrayed left, right and centre, still leaves us exactly where we are, all we can do is make the most sensible decisions we have left, and triple lock and heat allowance are not sensible
