Mologic do have manufacturing capacity which they recently expanded but this is not their core activity, they develop tests primarily. ODX will be manufacturing this test which looks like it accurate so will be in demand in the UK and elsewhere.

Pleased your son's op went well. If they tested you several days prior to being allowed access to ward then, they may have known your were negative, not sure they are required to tell you, hoping you did not go in straight after test as that would be strange. LFT usage is a different animal, it identifies infectious people but not so good at pre and post infectious is my understanding. This seems to be why the CT figure is important at less than 27, the figure when infectious people get picked up. It us worth noting that Prof Deeks (Birminghham student testing) identified 6 not picked up by LFT had CT's over that, meaning these people are either starting to be infectious or have a waning infection. If you therefore mass test frequently, say do a second test 3 days later then you pick up the starting to become infectious missed previously and the the ones post infection are not infectious anyway. So used in different ways LFT's are valuable, this is my understanding and happy to be shot down (filter operating) as no scientist. Apologies for rambling a bit been on Punk IPA!

It is my understanding there is a challenge measuring antibody response to vaccines as diffent antibody tests produce different results. Looks like they are matching a different antibody test to this vaccine. Similar to what the Azn/Oxford has done as the Odx one we are told matches that vaccine. I am no scientist so this may not be an explaination.

We should know results of trials soonish. It has been indicated a potential market is the cruise business. The trials are interesting in that they are being done in reasonably large workplaces which gives a clue in terms of potential markets. For me the BT will be used as a screening device rather than a diagnostic one, with confirmatory tests required if necessary, could be completely wrong on that! Markets will be varied but large gathering of people will be the common factor imv.

For me its always been concerns about peoples behaviours, immunity passport etc. Whilst we are still in the grip of the pandemic these concerns will remain. Once we a decent level of vaccine roll out think that attitude will change for both self use antigen (they still need a a way of ensuring notification) and antibody testing. We are a bit away at present but you never know. In the interim most testing will be supervised imv.

You do understand the difference between antigen and antibody tests as looks like some confusion. When the ODX/Mologic antigen test is complete then yes MRHA approval essential but this is not complete yet.

It is the RTC antibody test that is seeking MRHA approval for home use. Other tests are antigen tests e.g. innova. My view is whilst MRHA approval would be good for overseas sales, it is not essential for the proposed usage in the UK, i.e. support surveillance and vaccine studies.

False positives are not an issue as all positives are then, or should be PCR tested. Re the 6 false negatives it is worth noting the CT levels were over 30 and indicate low virus levels, is my understanding and as noted it is not clear if these had the infection and it was waning, or it was beginning. In either case it is not clear how infectious these people would be anyway! Prof Deeks is very good at criticism of LFT's but not at saying what the alternatives are. PCR testing is not possible on a mass scale due to capacity issues, cost and turnaround time.

LF testing is currently the only way forward as it is not possible to use PCR testing for mass testing due to capacity restraints and cost. There is also a turnaround issue as well. LF test sensitivity will improve with coming generations, including ours hopefully which will negate misperceptions of LFT's. LFT manufacturers are gearing up production, so I remain confident we will sell large numbers of LFT's.

I very much doubt it, updated guidance from a month ago. The AZ vaccine is currently being assessed by MRHA and we await results. You can speculate all you want but read the Lancet peer review if you need comfort.

Upomega you were asking a few days ago re the II's holdings. Did you read Shear post on the site and note the lock in clauses. To me this creates an artificial value for sometime to come!

This has no effect on ODX unless they are providing the ELISA test. Is this not the surveillance testing of frontline workers, amended to include "had a vaccine" , maybe read it wrong but cannot get animated!

John2015 it is the MHRA that is responsible for vaccine approval in the UK. The MRHA is a independant UK regulatory body. The EU has nothing to do with this process that I know of.
