Gamble, Speculation and Emotion?3 Dec 2020 00:32
On its own Clogau and Gwynfynydd are a gamble and purely speculative but very often opportunities like this prove to be both profitable and successful. Whether these two mines will release their riches willingly and easily is another matter. I'm not a Geologist and I only have a little knowledge of Earth Sciences but I do know there is gold up at Bontddu and Ganllwyd. these two locations are connected geologically and I have no doubt that the gold bearing rock is widespread in that part of Merionydd. I've been inside the St. David's Mine at Bontddu many years ago on a number of occasions and I've also been to the site of the last working mine at Ganllwyd. I recommend that if any of you have a spare weekend that a stay in this part of Wales will be most beneficial to you both mentally and from a research point of view. I lived in a number of locations in that part of Wales and at my last home there I was able to look over the Mawddach Estuary towards Barmouth (Y Bermo) with the Creggenan Lakes a short distance in the other direction. It is simply stunning at any time of the year.
As for the adit I went down, well it was dark (we only had bicycle torches), very damp with water lying on the floor and quite a lot of loose waste rock both within the entrance and external to the entrance. I ventured no more than 50 yards into the mine - it was enough for me to prove my bravery to my mates who were with me (we were only about 14 y.o.). I am not saying it is going to be easy, far from it but Alba with the expertise and experience they have will I am sure do their very best to get the gold out as economically as possible. With gold prices as they are (and I suspect a potential increase in value to $2500/Oz by this time next year) it 'could' be a winner on its own.
I have held Alba shares in the recent past and made a small profit and I am looking to get back in as soon as I can (so please don't let the SP take off without me!) and i have an 'emotional' connection to the 'Welsh Connection'. Personally I'd invest in Alba even if all they had was Clogau and Gwynfynydd, HOWEVER, we all know that Alba is so much more than just the gold.
Thank for reading my ramblings and for anybody who is interested I have a photo of a small rock sample on Twitter... you just have to search Daibando and it should come up.
The Gold is there if you look hard enough!
