The lateral well will increase the length of bore in the production zone compared to the vertical well.. Some how that increases the recoverable volumes. If you look at Matd NAV, they have a base model(vertical wells) valuation and enhanced model(horizontal). In their case the enhanced models increases in recoverability, and increased efficiencies through greater flow rates almost doubles the NAV for that asset.
