Just like many others I've been trying to get my old bike fixed up for some cycling, spent hours trying work out what I needed and searched online for best quality parts at best prices, looked at many sites then to my surprise halfords proved cheapest and most convenient, plus free delivery based on order value, delivered quickly by the courier, well happy, just need setup bike and start cycling,,...

Hard to say Fred, prices tend to move further and for far longer than is expected, I generally sell and the price keeps going up for 2 years. I buy and it keeps going down. But I'm sticking with my halfords, I believe they are worth more, plus could you imagine if the margins improved?!

The share price seems to indicate the company is not very much liked.. Perpetual downward trend over last few years... I hold my shares but something don't feel right about this one.

Based on the dhc {double headed coin} board participant touting it. what they promote generally goes down like a lead balloon despite their eloquently worded admiration of the stock.

Indeed IP3LY, sounds like you were following some good scuttlebut indicators.
I was surprised initially when i heard that halfords stores were open, but when the realisation that cycling was proving popular and of course that garages were still open and needed, plus they have many contracts for uk essential services, i began to think this is maybe not as bad as it looks! I've followed and invested in this company for a longish time, always liked the balance sheet and the good free cashflow. What has lost me money on this company has been share price falling consistantly as a result of lower op margins.... but maybe we've seen the worst of it. Not always been too keen on their potential level of cap X, in sometimes dubious changes (liek combing autocentres and retail stores) but all that said, i see good returns from this over the next ten years, i believe! i look forward to re instatement of a relatively high dividend......good luck all

Glad i have held my position and added regularly, by my calculation buying at 50p ish (cant remember the exact figure), some of these shares will end up yielding me a huge dividend yield when it eventually gets reinstated..... had a great capital gain on the recent purchases, help offset earlier losses.....

last week heard an article on radio 4 you and your where they talked of cycle sales booking in the uk during lockdown, a smaller private retailer interviewed stated that they had sold near a years worth of bikes in a matter of a few weeks.....

No one can know but trading at 10% of NAV (or at least it was few days ago) overdone perhaps!? Thinking to average down on a very long held holding

was wondering if anyone buying at these levels, came by here... i picked up a few, my last sale was at 2.50 something, halfed the holding, have bought at 62 i think and see they are falling nicely, unfortunately. i dont think i'll buy any more unless gets down to the thirties or through a rights issue...

Have been looking at halfords as i sometimes do. When the dividend is reinstated if bought today this could be giving a dividend yield of 16% or an earning yield near double that, could be a super bargin or who knows margins might continue to weaken and weaken as they have done for the last decade....

Quite a recovery in past week for Halfords, some will have made a tidy profit on the shares at the expence of those who sold sadly. What a rout this market has been the last month or so, have we lower to go? possibly...

true buy backs would save us having to pay the dividend tax, im not fully sure on buybacks, period, at these kinds of prices we would not be getting maximum value for money given that the shares are still up around 40% on a few months back. Sometimes it kind of feel like value destruction buying back shares at high prices, often it seems earnings slip in such companies and the buy back seems to have little effect on the share price... haven't really thought of the effect on eps, with a buyback and if share holders would benefit. Paying down debt good to pay down some no doubt. But at low interest rates best to keep a good chunk of it, or refinance at lower rates...
