The consolidation means after the special div, let's say the share price falls 40p,{for example) what will happen is the consolidation will say take your 100 shares, consolidate to say 75, all of which have a sp similar to before the special div, kind of feels like "vanity" on the part of the companies that do it as they don't want to see a share price like 178p,

I used to think similar things to you, even i thought of always doing the opposite of my considered decision as a decision strategy. But i am beginning to trust myself more. Aside from that i was researching this share, which i hold, after seeeing it in an investors chronicle most shorted list. Lets be honest as a company it does stink a little, debt ridden heap of false dreams. But BUT
I am thinking to hold my position based on the fact that the dividend (much trimmed) seems quite sustainable as a % of free cash flow, its op margin is around 9% i believe, but somehow its free cash flow is quite considerable. Likely this may continue a positive run based on the possible towers IPO -- im holding for now, if i get 20% increase in SP ill likely jetison this as for me the debt is just too much... as a mobile provider i think their network is prob the best in the uk, in fact when i moved home their 4g saved me as i work from home and rely on their network as broadband whre i am is rubbish. Lots of familiar names on this board, greetings. I see on many of these boards {prob myself included at times} spend alot of time commenting on what we think the share price should be, 22, 25etx. I think now I don't really care too much. I'll buy if I think undervalued or if I perceive a steady dividend stream or if I think it is a stable low risk investment. Ha quite the opposite of the shamboliclly run sirius I held, but looking back what happened was inevitable, a minnow trying to monetise a huge project. Sirius was my tuition in those situations. Gosh look at this sink, pretty hated by the market, bye bye my capital gain. Saying that if this continues, and the div yieid goes above 5% {maybe it has} I'll be snapping some up, still think it is a good company to own

It's concentration risk as I'm sure you know, if 2 holdings and one goes down 50%, your portfolio is down 25%. If you have ten holding or 20, and 1 goes down 50%, your portfolio is only down 5%and 2.5% respectively. Diversification is your friend, albeit I do work with a concentrated portfolio. If you someone thinks gsk cannot go much lower or much higher they are mistaken. Risks? Loss of sales and customers, increased costs, declining margins, debt, structural change. All could be there. As I said I bought today but the share as a bit "whiffy" to go in too much

I've read on here a few folks have 25% or even 50% of their entire portfolio in this, don't do it, even if it is a great idea, how much is this share going to go up. 15%, 30%? Too much risk. I'd say 10% is big enough on a large portfolio, be careful.

Tax payers money is a strange concept, do you really think the tax payer stumped up this money, or will ever pay this contribution to national debt? Simply they won't, the funds are simply printed or sometimes borrowed money that will never be paid back. The gov debt effectively is never paid back but grows through the decades and centuries, albeit remaining relatively in proportion to gdp. So it wasn't or isn't tax payers money {maybe it was our money} . But I can appreciate its often better to be seen to be doing the right thing even if you don't believe in it or want to do it.... I'm happy to be invested in tesco for now, will invest more once the capital return is out the way, don't fancy paying that additional dividend tax..... If that's how it works out

Sad news today with the repayment of business rates, rates which have crippled the more vulnerable areas of UK retail. I personally felt tesco were welcome to the relief, considering the pandemic cost them more than they received. Tax payers money being returned? Nooo its freshly printed boe funny money.
Affect on share price today, should be worth - 2% but the removal of the perceived controversy could balance it out. Hopefully they can recoup this somehow... Must be paving the way for the capital return

Despite caml being a very profitable business in sure there are many investors, who are underwater on their purchases, seeing considerable loss of capital and multiple cuts to the dividends. The sasa mine did bring increased profit to the business, but also dilution, and as said above lower divs per share, I'm personally about break even with adding after the covid lows, plus what divs I received but have not really had any gain to talk of in this money printing share, well will be good to see some capital appreciation finally, bring it on!

I guess there's a lot of large companies at the moment with pending capital returns, this, tesco and they maybe don't want to be seen passing hugee dividends, in light of covid and scrutiny. But we've lost a £2 premium on the share price, viridor value disappearing now, let's hope they buy at a single digit pe ratio after selling viridor at high price, otherwise wish I'd sold out long time ago.

See this drifting lower now, as it has done past 6 months, looks like their hesitating on any capital return, hope they invest it well,

Looked bit like a pump and dump, well so far didn't affect me. I remember years ago I did some research and three companies came out really hot in terms of free cash flow, hfd, pets and b&q, all three have done well since albeit they've been out and in favour along the way {only invested in one} atb
