Bound to regret this but the market seems to be giving the benefit of the doubt to CC.

I know nothing about spread betting other than what I’ve read on this board. I thought that that there is no actual ownership of shares involved in an SB; no dividends as you don’t own the shares. So what would cause spread betting to show up in a list of trades ?

'Friend' informed me she'd topped up / doubled up this morning, from £500 to £1k. I would if I had free funds.

Wyn, just out of curiosity, we shareholders do help in that we keep the price positive wit our buying. If we all lose interest and the price approaches zero then the sp gets shorted – and then can't trade at zero. Is that right?

I hope the Suez canal clears soon. Raw materials being stuck and / or expensive will not help with meeting expanding sales.
The options will incentivise which is fine. Just think if there was a hurdle of 12p and they sold early during a pump and dump.. Could cause a lot of damage. And a hurdle of.. 6p / 7p / 8p would be pointless. On balance I'm happy that they'll just want Eve to get to a good price. CC might stay years – well beyond 12p sp.

Why not a new header as we didn't move today.

On TP at the moment, Dreams have 4.6 out of 5 (on >45K reviews), whilst Eve are 4.5 out of 5 (on <7.9K reviews). So not much in it really; not enough for it to affect my buying choice in itself if I were buying.
There is also a 'Dreams Pillow Talk' (not heard of that before, and only around 80 reviews) on 3.9 out of 5. It could be the Dreams Feedback site, so somewhat worse..
Eve say they are focusing on customer service so we should catch up and hopefully beat Dreams (out of 5) before long.

Aim, after I popped down a few thoughts on here last night I watched the BBC 10pm news on iplayer and noticed that more John Lewis stores won't reopen due to the accelerated move to online.. Not at all good news for the workers or the high street but it's the online retailers who should reap the rewards. Time will tell specifically on Eve.

Didn't CC talk of a few months in the presentation. It's a licensing arrangement with no risk to Eve but also means that the rewards will be modest.

Simba does claim to be profitable. They are a private company and perhaps have a little less scrutiny but this was published in January:
'That profitable growth has been delivered and accelerated in 2020 as Simba hit £100m in sales in 2020 and delivered c. £3m EBITDA profit.'
So if you blend that profit with Eve tomorrow, you get... a profitable PLC with ongoing economies. The mattresses may even be made side by side in some cases. And Eve has many more ancillary products.
As CC said, they have no plans to get into cahoots (avoiding bed there) with anyone, but Eve going into the ground, under any circumstances, seems closer to 'remote' than it does to 50/50.

Aim, if consolidation comes into play wouldn't the sp price shoot up even if it's dropped back before the move? When the ROT was on the cards with Simba, the shares were suspended. Suppose that happens again, I think as soon as the merged company comes back on the market the sp would hold or increase this due to the inevitable economies of scale. (Eve on it's own is nearly profitable.) Maybe CC only bought £5000 (? I can't recall the exact figure; less than TP) of stock this time as she knows a merged Co. would only need one CEO.
The funny thing is that people make all sort of speculations on these boards but more-often-than-not what happens is something that no-one has predicted.

Hi Aim, I think Jas was largely discredited which is why I mentioned JS and CC's time rather than the previous regime. JS and CC have kept exceeded their forecasts (though sometimes because they've had events on their side).
Wyn is highly conservative / analytical and yet says a profit would deliver a big boost to the sp should it happen. They should still have a couple of million left at the end of 2022 (rather than the zero you fear) and CC says she won't jeopardise the business.

PS If Directors make bigger purchases of shares, those shares more-or-less become un-sellable without crashing the sp. Can you imagine the reaction to a "C.C. or T.P. SELLS 50,000 shares in Eve" shock-horror RNS?
They can only buy what they want to keep till 'well beyond profitable'..

Correct me if I'm wrong (you would anyway) but was last week's update the first time CC (or James Sturrock in his time) actually predicted profit in a particular timeframe?
As I remember it used to be all about cutting cash burn, working towards being profitable blah-de-blah..
The new 'profitable in H2 2022' prediction could mean we hold some of the recent gains as we go through the quiet times before the next update; some people will take the forecast at face value.
I know the Directors' purchases were probably more symbolic – signals to us to hold the faith – and as there are no loans to get at cheaper interest rates with eve it wouldn't be to obtain better borrowing terms this time. Why not buy £5000 worth of shares if they'll be worth more down the line, and maybe they also have ISA allowances to use up like the rest of us?

If a friend were meeting me in better times around the end of the morning I would not complain if they arrived at 12.05pm. 12.15 might be pushing it but assuming I'd be very pleased to see them and they had good news, I wouldn't hold it against them.
