Gen, I interpret using some of the cash balance to invest as a sign of increasing confidence. CC has a clear grasp of justified spending; she won't throw away the gains they've made . You did post of an early profit but they made no mention of that in the Jan TU so you shouldn't have been overly disappointed with yesterday's final results – which were actually strengthened by Jan and Feb sales. Covid, sadly, will be around for a while even if we have a respite over the summer and Eve should continue to do well because 36% of all UK shopping is now online. I'm sure they've done projections and wouldn't forecast profit towards the end of 2022 unless they believe it almost certain.
Yesterday they said that they're close to beginning the ad campaign in France. It'll be interesting to follow their website traffic in France and how it responds.
Eve will continue to be a thorn in the side of (deep pocketed) Emma and Simba and it won't be getting any easier to dismiss eve as she heads toward 2022 profit.

CC reads the last question from the screen: "Mahmoud has asked, are there any plans to revisit a merger with Simba or a merger with any other business to help you achieve your further growth plans?”
And CC answers: “As we've said, at the moment, nothing like that is on the table, erm, if an opportunity came along that we couldn’t resist we would look at it but it is not in our near plans”.

All theoretical for the moment, based on the fact CC was heard to reply during the Q&A that they wouldn't rule it out, at the right price.

Just SUPPOSE that Emma or Simba (or someone else) wanted to take-over Eve. CC said they don’t have in-house manufacturing so it would be the brand they’d be buying. Most competitors may all use the same factories so that would simplify things for a start. ‘Eve’ name would be profitable much sooner than end 2022.
I’m not sure if this applies in a reverse takeover which is what nearly happened last time but this is a takeover rule (what was the price on the cbd spike day? 8p?):
‘When a person or group acquires interests in shares carrying 30% or more of the voting rights of a company, they must make a cash offer to all other shareholders at the highest price paid in the 12 months before the offer was announced ’.
I’m the first to admit this is the most amateur theory but it crossed my mind so happy to mention it and gather thoughts - if any. If Eve carries on till end 2022 the share price is bound to be higher than 10p once profitable.

I guess if the price is right, every company is for offer..

Someone at the end (from the audience) asked the question (during the Q&A). When the recording is available I'll take another look. Very near to the end. She'd previously said that others had much deeper pockets (Emma I think, specifically) and could spend more on marketing.

She didn't rule-out a tie up with Emma or Simba if the offer was good. Eve will be sustainably profitable in 18+ months. Must make them think, mustn't it? (I bet they watched!)

Sustainably / consistently profitable (end?) 2022 is what I think they said. There'll be peaks along the way but patient people will be rewarded as we get closer to that time.

Wish-me; he said that they could be profitable today (and harm the company) but they want to grow the company (and be more profitable). I'm happy with that though others may disagree.

I imagine CC will be very up-beat during the presentation. If the improvement in logistics was down to the new chap then that should continue to bear fruit.

Hi Wyn, I shall no doubt catch you back on Avacta in the not-too-distant future! For me they (Eve and AVCT) are so different but very glad to have them both, and also bought more (sold IMM to fund it) yesterday.
I'm guessing Eve could fall today as people who were here for the results move on and then we'll experience a gradual rise again in the next weeks and month towards next news. Today's results may well attract a different kind of investor to Eve. It sometimes takes a few hours and days for word to circulate.

Cheers Gen. I know that if I sell now my cash will go elsewhere and that may well be a more risky place! Also, things pop-up with Eve whether it be CBD spike or an approach from a suitor, now they are so close to being profitable. Consolidation would make good sense now. I'll see what happens.

Genius, not sold a thing and happy to hold as the results are better than I expected (though I appreciate you must be disappointed as you had high expectations that things would be very much improved in just 2 months). The Jan and Feb revenue boost was welcome and rather implies that trustpilot does bear some relation to real sales. I'm still 'well-up' as my average is around 3.5p so that allows me to feel comfortable.
The first lockdown began 12 months ago but eve didn't notice that it would good for their sales for the first few weeks. We've perhaps had 10 months of 'lockdown effect' tailwinds. As CC said, the eve re-set of eve has been hastened by the good 10 months they've had.
I hold shares in potentially much more lucrative pharmas and eve represents a very good balance for me anyway; wouldn't want to have everything in eve or the pharmas and eve will do well long term.
Ben, I'm guessing that Wyn was already 'in' yesterday otherwise couldn't have made the dummy sell yesterday. He could be 'out' now, along with Genius, but that's his business!

Nice to have been in at the ‘birth’ of a company that’s going to do very well long term. Today’s results will open eve up - much more - to the type of investor willing to wait for growth (we’ve always been here) but not willing to take big chance. Eve shouldn’t be seen as risky any longer and that’s an important step we’ve taken.

Bbc 10pm news just now. Report by Faisal Islam on shopping habits: “The rise in proportion of online sales has been staggering. It took a decade to grow slowly from 10 to 20% of total sales. In just 12 months that has jumped to 36%, change that would’ve taken a decade and a half in just one year”.
