After Boris's ill-judged 'Greed' is good speech it probably not a great week for the Avacta price to shoot up – at least that's what I guess the PR people would advise if they are sensible.

Most people who've been here a while will agree with you entirely. My caveat is that if I were in the sleep market (or in another market but fancied eve) and wanted to take-over or merge I would perhaps act sooner rather than later and before profits get closer, and the sp rises. Taking over could actually bring forward the profitable day too – if there is to be a profitable day.

Chairman of Eve, Paul Pindar has spent a fortune on shares when they were 10p – and much more – and has held on to them so that is confidence? CC could be pacing herself (second £5000 in around 6 months?) or even waiting for 4.2p after reading this bb. Also, she may wisely think 'not all eggs in one basket' too; the shares could get stuck in a reverse takeover.
So many unknowns, except we do know that March is a number month for trustpilot reviews :-)

I do take the point that the chart says the best bet is to wait till 6.8 on the basis that the risks have passed and higher peaks would come into view (and the profit CC spoke of would be just around the corner by the time we get to 6.8p).
But if one believes CC now (which I do, then 4.2 or even 4p looks quite attractive. I have made (on paper) more money on the Eve I bought at 1.5p than what I bought at 3.2p (coming back up) but I scraped out of that as the pandemic arrived. I accept that sp was headed down from 1.5p.
What if 6.8 is breached due to a pump and dump again? That wouldn't help a chart inspired buy at .. 6.9p. I guess that a p&d is outside a chart's scope as a chart is 'balance of probability' from previous patterns and not a cast iron promise.
The charts can't have a view on CC's prediction of profits H2 next year either but investors might well take a view on trust and her track record. She's done everything else she 'promised' so I do think Eve will be a profitable business, or be merged. 'Failing' seems to be the least likely scenario to me..
I should probably sell a few to buy back for less later (take out the emotion of not selling during the p&d) but I won't as I'd undoubtedly spend the cash elsewhere and that would be a gamble too :-)

Wyn, would you speculate that wherever it settles this spring, so long as eve don't come out with something like 'we told you profit end 2022 BUT' the price will bobble back up again to 6.5 / 6.8 around the time of the next update? And even higher towards updates in H2 2022?

Reports of results are still coming through in the media and I noticed this quote from CC (it was the part about business resilience that caught my attention as it was what we were talking about yesterday):
‘ We seek sustainable, profitable growth and will avoid growth at any cost, and certainly to the detriment of customer experience or business resilience.’

Sobering figures Aim1, though I still think I'd rather be a shareholder of a profitable company with £1m in the bank than an unprofitable company with £6m.
CC has delivered on all (I think) her promises so far so I shall stick with it. It isn't as if we won't hear anything now till the end of 2022; there'll be a fair number of pointers before we actually turn the first profit.
You wouldn't be here if you weren't at least interested in Eve. Are you convinced in the company?

Wyn, yes, they are saying EBTDA loss for 2020 (figures last week) is – £2m and that's forecast to change to –£2.8 so yes, a total of –£4.8 so yes, could be down to £6m.

Wyn, in the Finncap analysis they say the loss (presumably because of French investment) 'will increase to -£2.8m in 2021 (-£2m in 2020)' so I'd imagine they'll still have near £8m in the bank, rather than £6m you mention. The end of 2021 is probably not that difficult for them to forecast either with at least a couple more months of covid issues and foreign holidays being tricky for the whole year (and we are booked to fly to France in August so I take no pleasure in saying that).

There was a trading update 29 May 2020 but can't see one in May 2019 however there was on 18/07/2019 an 'Eve Sleep plc: Pre-close trading update'.
So in fact it's a moveable feast. There'll be a SP rise around the appropriate time; that never changes.

Just reading the FinnCap research (well worth getting access if you haven't already and this might work: https://www.finncap.com/research-portal?#/portal/finncap ) and they say that LBITDA will increase to -£2.8m in 2021 (-£2m in 2020) so that's not a huge dent to the bank balance is it? It also happens to be a smaller loss than they predicted for 2020 before lockdown boosted sales. We are well ahead of where people thought we would be, 14 months ago.

momoni, Wyn has been invested here a long, long time: he knows his onions when it comes to eve. I think it will be the filterers loss rather than Wyn's.
As for Gen, he may hold his opinions to be true (who knows what's in someone else's mind and we are all ultimately out for 'number 1') but I never believed the highly optimistic predictions (though they would have been nice) after the TU and before Thursday and certainly I'd refute Gen's current 'worst scenario' predictions. Patently obviously eve is not likely to spend all the cash and go-under when CC and TP are predicting sustainable profits next year. We may see a fall in SP as people won't see much action here in the short term. I'll stay as I'm in profit and one never knows what a Director Buy, or a TR1 – even an approach from elsewhere – will do to the sp. At the very worst we'll be back at 7p (or 8p?) prior to the next TU.
