not really my idea of fun though i have done it on occasion ..... best when you have a pal with all the kit + boat .... hate resort prices for that sort of thing ...... would go again i guess if the opportunity arises

am totally pissed off with this winter .... don't mind it cold and clear, but now it just dry and cloudy with a pretty vicious east wind ...... will paly golf tomorrow with "the boys", but other than that no fun being outside .... have therefore got into "jewish mother" mode and am spending all day in the kitchen ...... soup, casseroles and may even find myself forced to start making chutney again which no one will eat!

i find that having complete breathing apparatus with face covered etc takes that fear away, though of course it is still intrinsically quite dangerous ...... i actually find it far less daunting than snorkelling, and certainly a lot safer (for me) than straightforward swimming.

ah yes ..... the parachute jump! ...... and this is someone who hates fairground rides and assuredly would not bungee jump ...... my daughter's idea and i thought it would be fun, so i volunteered to do it for charity ....... family solicitor sponsored me, but through their probate dept! ....... unfortunately Beloved was truly horrified at the idea ...... had she promised divorce, i might have taken her up on the idea, but at the end of the day, it was aborted ....... daughter managed a jump and loved it, but only when she was well away from home; in oz as it happens where she went on a hol just after she graduated ...... never told her mother; just presented her with a video of he hol when she got home!!

RDS - Beloved is not afraid of getting her hair wet, but it does not appeal to her at all ...... i also tried to get her to scuba dive without success ...... i swim like a brick but found i thoroughly enjoyed it as does my daughter ...... it was always something i wanted to try (and parachute jump!) so 10 years ago, when we went to carribean for my 50th, i took the plunge (groan, groan!) ...... method would not have been approved of in europe (guess why) but teacher was very good indeed ...... try to go at least once a year (only warm water), but for one reason or another, have not now done so for 3/4 years.

you are clearly far younger than i, for i am afraid i reluctantly gave up my club coarse rugby days about 25 years ago ....... i skied too, but as you may guess, totally without grace and style, though resonably effectively! ...... unfortunately, though Beloved quite likes skiing, she doesn't loike snow, so that too has gone by the board ...... however, number one son + a family friend and i have taken up cycling for a week a year in france ...... fine food is a prerequisite, so we have learnt our lessoin the hard way and now leave no more than +/-12 miles to go after lunch! ...... anyway, as i said, if you fancy lunch at wentworth one day, especially once the weather improves and one can eat outside, let me know.

MRP - i see i bought my main ration (about 30% of norm) at 18p and then topped up to about 40% with a batch at 23.75p ...... i may buy more to take my holding to 50/60%, but i reckon that will be plenty.

RDS (FTSE) - hope you are right .... it would probably work quite well in my favour as i have a modest bear position on the index, albeit that other stocks could/would be adversely affected in the fallout.

MRP - i don't go to other bb's .... can't be bothered .... however, revaluation of this stock is probably based on the fact that there are now high gas prices and mrp has a well thawill soon be producing (quite) a lot of gas with a high sulphur (or similar) content .... this means it has to be cleaned up (at a price) before it can be sold on ..... i guess no one can quite work out how much this share should or might be worth until all the various factors are known

CHP - rhea - don't panic ..... that sale was timed at 09:16 and though it may have taken a little while to shift, it only represented about £250k and clearly did not adversely affect sp .... see where it finished

RDS (FTSE) - as it is Cheltenham Week, perhaps you would like to place bets on where FTSE is headed at least at the beginning of next week ...... after touching +/-6040 earlier today, it has closed a hair's breadth below 6000 (predicted earlier along these lines) ..... the big Q is will there now be the (my) expected downwards correction, or will Monday see the index romping on up?

WTB - read my post of 9/2 ..... in fact sp raced away in the next few weeks and though i sold arguably early, that was a very nice turn inceed ...... and now? ..... not sure; perhaps some consolidation

CER - not that much traffic but good gain for the day ..... no news except that deutsche bank (clients) have built up a holding of about 13.5% .... perhaps cer have found a sensible home for some of their money

where to eat/meet is easy ..... much tougher to get eme or even vog to £5 by christmas!

CHP - a few days ago a stop-loss i had forgotten about was hit, so i "lost" most of my holding ...... bought back most today, albeit that it cost me more ..... however, these are now back in the money and i am happy enough to sit tight
