what was so exciting last night? ..... as you may gather, i do not follow footie at all. much more importantly, i have just remembered the other oustanding restaurant in Calais is Les Pleiades just off Pl des Armes ..... the location and outside are most unprepossessing, but i do most strongly commend you to it.

CHP - in a word, YES ...... the only reason the price has fallen back is due to the delay in an announcement .... see my earlier post of 15:22

there is certainly a danger that something like a mature corton charlemagne will be just too rich, while (you are quite right) the flinty background to a mature chablis will cut through a bit ...... can also recommend 1989 (yes 1989) muscadet that we had in Le Channel in Calais .... good restaurant with most interesting wine list and great cheeseboard

I am very fortunate that we have a fantastic fishmonger in our little town, to which I can walk from home ..... If I want a lobster, he will cook it for me that morning ..... He also smokes his own salmon and haddock on the premises, both of which are way above your M&S and similar stuff. As I enjoy cooking and am lucky enough to have a good cellar, we do not bother to go out that often. Though we have a couple of very highly rated and totally poncy restaurants near us, we prefer our selection of "pubs" (a misnomer really) that serve food to a very fine standard

SCO - i thought quite seriously of buying some of these, but a 10% spread and the need to buy a big slab to make any worthwhile profit deterred me ..... and by the looks of it, a good thing, notwithstanding that the results were every bit as good as could have been expected

In very humble (haha!) opinion, if lobsters are fresh fresh fresh it is a shame to eat them other than cold with mayo, some new potatoes and salad and a bottle of good white burgundy (or new world equivalent) ..... the flavour is so delicate, especially that of Canadian lobsters, that to add a sauce of some description just masks all.

BVC - pretty good results with t/o up 37% vs predicted 34%, though margins have been squeezed ...... bullish trading statement ..... immedaite reactyion was to mark the shares up to 36, so a fall to 31.5 looks well overdone to say the least ..... also, for those who follow charts, 32 is smack on the bottom of bollinger band range and also at 100 mda (i think) ...... all in all, looks like minimal risk with good upside potential

CHP - the delay in the announcement is certainly unsettling, but i suspect there is nothing particularly sinister ..... just the usual south american attitude of manana. I would not be surprised to see the price drifting even lower over the next week or so, in which case, that could be a buying opportunity for the (fairly) brave. By the way, and sorry to sound pompous, but please can we keep this board as a place for sensible discussion rather than handbagging ..... general chitchat is usually done on RDS, being a share that is hardly traded.

SCO - I agree with everyhting said about this company, but the (slight) worry is that nms is only 75000 = £1500 .... for a penny stock, this is almost derisory

CHP - my total holding is only 50% of norm at tonight's price, so given that Colombian time is well behing our own, I shall almost certainly just sit tight ...... too difficult trying to finesse (be a smart arse!) when the total movement on a "non event day" is likely to be <1.5p.

CHP - according to the entrails, tomorrow (colombian time) is meant to be "Chaco Time" (sorry bunch are those who understand the pun!), but i have a feeling that nothing will appear .... in which case, stand by for further weakness

GTL - risk1 - you reckon BFC is worth more than GTL, so why do you not buy BFC?

MPH - it seems the Greg Tufnell (some relative of the cricketer) acquired 2.5 million option shares at about 5p ..... tasty paper profit, but one wants to hope that he does not realise it any time soon, or the sp really will get smacked

BFC - announcement of 28/2 says it all ...... what else do you expect???? The Board of Biofuels is pleased to announce that, following the successful completion of a comprehensive commissioning programme, the first biodiesel has been produced at its Teesside plant. Efforts are currently focussed on calibrating the plant against required quality and throughput specifications and then to turn to progressively ramping up to full production rates.

obviously the sells were a catalyst!

MRP - transcript of yesterday's release ...... Meridian Petroleum PLC said it plans to start work on the Milford 36 well, in which it has a 25 pct interest, soon after frost law restrictions, which limit the movement of heavy equipment and are in place in certain Michigan counties, are lifted. Elsewhere in the US, work on deepening the Victory 1-21 well, where it has a 10 pct stake, started last Monday and is proceeding as scheduled, although it is also being restricted by the frost laws. Work on Calvin 36-1, where it has a 80 pct working interest, is on schedule and will start in the week of March 27, while the company expects to begin drilling operations in the second quarter of 2006 on wholly owned Orion. In Australia, the company said it is awaiting results from its Australian lawyers on its native title applications and has been advised to expect a positive outcome within the next few months. With the price having drifted off a little today, take the opportunity to top up or get in as the case may be
