In the bloodbath, DOO collapsed to about 180, since which time it has surged back to where it was ..... A few days ago, company announced that an unknown (or several) was in talks either to acquire a large stake or even to take over the whole .... sp promptly bolted to 320 ..... this morning it was announced that UBS (I think) now held 10/11%, yet the price has now fallen back to 272. Either the predator(s) have pulled out, which i think is unlikely, or the very short-term holders have sold up for whatever reason. IMO, DOO is intrinsically a good company and worth holding in any potrfolio of alternative fuel stocks ..... with that in mind, and very much taking into account the news of the last few days, this must surely be worth a dabble especially if sp falls very much further
PXC - having thought sp had broken through a tough resistance 2/3 months back, sp has been dull in the extreme .... let's hope the current enthusiasm for the stock has some longevity or, better still, that a predator gets stuck in
Prob no more than in symapthy with DOO linked (illogically) to the fact that DOO also had a brief look at BFC at the end of last year
GTL - not often am i found to be in total agreement with GedW, but this is definitely an exception to that rule
GedW ...... you and perhaps I must have mellowed then (lol!), for I only saw a vague resemblance to your goodself in any posts there!
GedW - thought you had migrated to moneyam, but did not see you there ..... how is debbie? ... any news?
PXC - no; got out of these a few weeks back ..... lost patience with them though I may take a further look in due course - e.g. just before next results
heard that story this afternoon and certainly some news must be due .... actually topped up this afternoon, though I fear London will not be a happy place at least first thing tomorrow morning
although CHP has still to find the black stuff, there seems to be enough positive news around and to follow to make this a worthwhile if rather risky punt
GPC - Gearbox told everyone that MDY was going to hit 10p in a matter of days too ..... so, other than the fact that GPC is in the oil/gas sector, what is the foundation for this solid assertion other than that his relative (must be CEO or FD!) works for the company. Gearbox - GedW you ain't!!!
there have certainly been probs just gettinginto the site since yesterday afternoon ...... little better even now, especially if you are relying on the site for share prices or similar
MDY ..... i would almost rather buy RPT than MDY! ...... copied herewith what I posted a few days ago ........... MDY - from memory i did well out of this share when it traded several years ago at +/-125 ...... just because it has fallen into an abyss does not per se make it a bargain .... in fact, there is often good cause for the collapse ...... beware trying to catch the falling knife by buying more and more just to lower your average cost.
GLA - well discovered m8 ...... thanks for the heads-up, though I had already earmarked some funds for this stock anyway.
to nominee - with which mutual acquaintance have you been sleeping to say such things? ...... I think I'm lovely and kind and considerate and. of course, a wonderful lover .... lol!
CHP - just for general info and as something to keep your eye on, average daily volume is 7.5m ...... Times rumour and low volumes on Thursday are curious bedfellows, but we shall see
CREO - or at least i SEEM to have made a totally wrong call, but there appears to be nothing at all of any significance on record .... have checked for announcements and .... big zero! ...... however, i do note that NMS is only 500 shares which certainly means it is very illiquid ...... given the apparent total lack of information, this still looks a very dodgy share to deal in ..... you may make a lot of money (for no apparent reason), but if there is any selling, then dive for cover, if you can even offload
As far as i can determine, the last news was dated 3rd April when it was announced that no date had yet been fixed for the flotation of Uramin on AIM ...... I am pretty certain that LSE rules would insist that the date is made public, even if the offering is to be via placement to the "inner circle"
I know nothing of ATR and CLY as they are too small for me, but if you feel they are going nowhere, then no point in keeping .... if you mean mining rather than oil/gas stocks then the following are worth looking at ..... CEY, ENK, CER, POG and TIO, but for the last, wait for share reaction after EGM at end of next week.
GOLD - don't agree .... russians want to double their reserves and there is also a greed factor in that there is a belief that gold will go to $850 within next 24 months
TIO - you may well be right and this will prove to be a dud, but with the egm just days away, i may as well sit tight and watch ..... at least there was a fair amount of buying today (and selling!)
