DGM - bid ..... thanks for the clarification ..... i assumed (wrongly yet again!) that a tentative approach could hang in the air ad infinitum or until the target got bored with the dance

DGM - GedW ..... unless you know different, i don't think there is any announcement of intent to make a firm offer, but only "preliminary enquiry" per feb 13

PXC - GedW ... do you have access to see the full range of buy vs sell orders? ..... it might make interesting viewing as even ignoring the block of 12 million that were sold early today, volume is about 4.5x the norm ..... it would dispel several clouds if a bid were tabled at last!

DGM - the announcement of 13th feb actually states that DGM had received t/o approaches from more than one company ..... it is therefore not unreasonable to suppose that negotiations have been going since that date, and perhaps even tentatively started before then ...... whether a firm offer (opening salvo) will be forthcoming within the next day or two is another matter.

DGM - to steal your line GedW, i hope i shall not now spoil your party by gritting my teeth and buying a few of these ..... as you know, it is not a company i really understand, though thanks to your help a wekk or so back, i now have a rudimentary knowledge. On the basis that i have bought myself, i guess i should post as BUY!

Not especially for bigted, but this problem of off-loading small cap stocks when the market turns is something i have actually highlighted several times ....... in fact the market's general malaise can be judged from the performance of heavyweights like Pearson who were well promoted in today's papers which now stand at 750 (-1.5p) after 763 and Whitbread who today are in admitted talks with RBoS for the sale of some of their hotels, which stand at 1117 (+11p) after 1153.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger ...... nearly everyone will have taken a pasting, especially those who follow penny stocks and the like ..... don't forget, there has been strong upward momentum on all shares for several months with scarcely a pause for breath ..... let's hope this is just a temporary glitch, at least where "our own" shares are concerned

DUN - spot-on; well done! ..... I see yopu alerted me to this share on 24/1, but if i read the chart correctly, the price had already shot up to about 3.5p so no margin left for profit even at that time

MPH - i think you are probably right ..... typically, i lost patience with the stock the day before it rocketed ..... hey ho! ..... but for sure would not buy after this hefty rise

HPE - merely as an aside, i am very surprised that a company should find it wirth it's while to go public with such a small capitalisation ..... even in clearing bank terms, it is peanuts and the owners "buy" themselves a load of probs with rules and regs and investors etc which they would not have as a private company.

HPE - your analysis is impeccable as usual .... however, too small for my mode of investment i am afraid

CHP - i too think this is a very promising share in the right location .... don't mortgage the house, but certainly worth some "risk money" ...... and yes indeed storm, i thoroughly agree, and have sometimes posted as much anmd even, if i recollect correctly, been castigated for suggesting peeps take their profits (may have been ELP as it happens).

HPE - GedW - please cut the crap; it's exceeding dull for me and everyone else ... as for this company, it is no doubt excellent, but far too small for CFDs which is where i trade.

ELP - sorry frede65, but only just came across your posting ..... imvho you and everyone else would be well advised to steer clear of this stock ..... apart from having no producing assets, elp has now built a solid record for non-delivery, so i would be surprised if next time around the lemmings jump on board with anything approaching the same enthusiasm. There are plenty of good quality oil stocks around or even ones with good prospects linked to something solid in the bank ..... my own choices are BUR, VOG, EME and CHP ...... EME as is well documented has gone through a truly horrible day, but i THINK everything is still on track, and certainly those with far more knowledge than i are also of that opinion.

CHP - the easy and probably true answer is that there has been a lot of hot "frothy" money washing about, with an awful lot of peeps being sucked into the idea that trading T10/20 was money for old rope ...... unfortunately that is exactly what some will have ended up with!

MPH - got that call wrong big time by the looks of it! ..... would have been well in the money, but never mind ....... oh well, can't always be right

MPH - today's rns looks very inaccurate and i am surprised sec has no picked up on it ..... inter alia mph claim that they produce and sell both YSL and Boateng, both of which houses are patently no longer in their stable ...... their upbeat trading statement also smack of some very creative accounting. Anyway, the mooted proposal to take the company private again can only be good for sp, but for myself, i am glad to be out and don't think i shall be venturing back in.

FAO - the audited accoiunts are now due to be announced at the end of march ..... it would therefore be reasonable to expect at the same time not only a progress report on the drilling results, but also on the finance package ..... under the circumstances, perhaps no need to rush in to buy tomorrow, but for those of gambling mind, around 20th looks about right.
