BUR - in addition to the figures, there was also an announcement regarding the various fields ..... some of the minor wells/fields elsewhere in the world have come up dry, but no compoany ever gets their strike rate 100% ..... also, the field in Congo has been slightly downgraded. Neverthless, the shares are up a bit (now +15 after + 30) and still trending up .... having scared me shitless yesterday, i hope there are some ugly bears out there who are now getting their bollocks well and truly stamped on!

BUR - sorry but been out all day ...... confess i got whalloped but have also bought back in ...... there is no published reason whatsoever for the big drop and broker has no idea either ...... i guess the figures (tomorrow) could be vile, but if memory serves me right, there was a very bullish write-up over the w/e .... the company itself is very well run and has a good reputution for being conservative ....... fingers and legs crossed for the morrow, though i have put in a guaranteed stop just in case

HML - jcb3c - though what you say has some sense, i would comment that accountants and share dealing do not make happy bedfellowsw, and also accountants rarely make good entrepreneurs ..... the mentality is totally different

MPC - as far as i can see, that puts the power firmly back with michael morris which, imo, is no bad thing.

CHP - the total number of shares (4 million) really is pretty small beer in fund managing terms - i.e. £600k ...... in fact, if the shares have already fiund new homes (uncertain), then that is more likley to help sp than hinder it

BUR - i continue to beat a lone drum for this heavyweight but exceedingly well managed and profitable company ..... the figures are due on Thursday and i hope i will have a big smile on my face and not egg! ..... it is of course the accompanying trading statement that will be provide impetus rather than the basic figures, unless they are out of line with expectations.

DOO - comment with figures today as below: "Biodiesel producer D1 Oils plc reported a maiden full year pretax loss of 7.5 mln stg as it invested in its operations, from a 3.1 mln loss a year earlier. The company said energy prices and government initiatives worldwide in 2005 moved the biofuels market further in its favour. 'We have made a solid start to 2006. The board is confident about the prospects for the coming year. A key objective for the management team is to deliver a profit in 2007,' it said." As i have said before, i like the feel of this company going into the future, so still rate it as a BUY, especially after today's 17p fall.

PRE - sorry shareguru ..... sometimes i agree with your views and sometimes i do not; in this case the latter .... for me, what oilbarrel had to say about PER in the same article that wrote about GOO (and CHP), is much more realistic: "Pan Andean Resources (AIM:PRE) provides a good example of the tribulations that can arise in South America. Pan Andean holds a set of oil & gas assets in Bolivia, some of which are producing, but the company has suffered considerable operational difficulties due to Bolivia’s tumultuous politics, and has deferred indefinitely all further investment in the country. Accordingly, the market ascribes Pan Andean’s Bolivian assets almost no value. Pan Andean has though chosen to move into Peru, and is currently bringing on an exploration project there from the grass roots stage. Pan Andean also has considerable producing assets in the U.S. sector of the Gulf of Mexico, and these go some way towards offsetting the risks of the company’s operations in Peru and Bolivia."

certainly something of a bloodbath on many of the second-liners, especially VOG, CHP and EME, which I hope in the near future will come in with some seriously cheering news ...... only light i can see for today, apart from the likes of ABP, which is rather a special sit, is that Fed will indicate that today's(?) rate rise is likely to be the last for a while ...... if that happens, then the markets could recover quite sharply, though sentiment is currently quite shaken

CHP - storm is talking sense ..... however, in this particular case, i think CHP has a good future and is set up in the right geographical locations, so in this instance, though i have taken a modest profit with some of my holding, i shall probably hold (most of) the balance for the future

GTL - GedW is certainly right that this is a good sector to be in for the future .... along with GTL, it is also worth considering BFC and DOO about which i have posted in the (recent) past.

CHP - these actually rather more than just HOLD, and may even qualify as BUY ...... the only thing that has changed, and it is tiresome, is that we all expected the announcement to bring a quick and decent profit ..... it does not look to be panning out that way, and it may be that nothing much will happen until CHP come up with some results ...... i don't believe that tying up the loose ends on the contract will have much positive impact though i/we could be pleasantly surprised

DGM - GedW - in the recent past, you were a great fan of this company ..... do you reckon these so-called predators are still on the scene, or would they have had to declare potential interest by now?

ENK - i don't see sp roaring ahead in the immediate future, but i don't see much downside either .... imo, the restructured deal with Billiton whereby B take an larger holding in the whole company rather than just a JV on a part is much more favourable to the shareholders.

I don't necessarily buy GedW's logic for another poor day, but it would not surprise me in the least ..... PIs are already a bit unsettled and will have worries about the immedaite future of the market, partially linked to the unknown of where US interest rates are heading after the next expected rise of 0.25% ..... we are also winding up the finacial year which always tends towards volatility as books are squared and profits and losses crystalised to maximise tax efficiency.

Definitely allowed as it helps guard against tooth decay, obesity and potential diabetes ..... boiling or broiling the brats may do more for ones own wellbeing but may be frowned upon in some quarters

CHP - that was not a fun day! .... CHP did not perform as we all hoped and VOG was genuinely horrible .... imo, neither deserved the rough treatment they received ..... i trust that quiet reflection will soon bring about a recovery in the fortunes of both

ENK - the company seems to have given away quite a lot to get Billiton into bed with them ..... also, i note that production is not scheduled to start for another year ..... it is (slightly) tempting to buy a moderate number to lock away, perhaps with a view to topping up later.

GedW .... while your recommendations are indeed always well researched and often come up trumps - e.g. HML, though some got (quite) badly burnt by getting in too late - penny stocks by their nature can also go badly sour - e.g. ELP, and HML if your timing was wrong. With regards to heavyweights, i could have commended to general attention, and may well have posted re same, BUR, WTB, ABP and several others ..... while these may not produce 100% returns, let alone 2/300%, they have all performed very well indeed .... some i have traded, and others i have held in my long-term portfolio

ENK - i certainly concur that BHP are no bit player! ..... indeed an interesting one to dwell on ...... shame you and most others here do not often trade in more heavyweight stocks, for otherwise would have some interesting plays to contribute
