I suspect the stats cover final-salary schemes as well as defined-contribution but it might also be affected both by the spread of ETF funds and also the relative size of the UK market. Not that I am opposed to the principle of a minimum % of pension pots invested in UK stocks.

It all happened on very limited trading. It just goes to show that, when this stock starts rising, it will be it in large steps.

It's not really my field but here are my thoughts.

I think we've seen the immediate impact of the AI correction but not obvious how it plays out. Fewer chips may reduce NVID sales but other chip makers may benefit (RPI is up over 10% on Friday) and we also know that cost reductions can often lead to increased activity as more players can join in. As 1ontheup says, software companies can gain and I think there's perhaps more to play for in the Small cap area here.

It also brings into play other companies who stand to gain from AI in the longer term. Pharma is perhaps the obvious example here.

Pretty impressive on the part of Reuters to get the story out in less than 60 seconds.

It's as good a place as anywhere to keep money safe. Who know - there may be billions waiting out there to be dumped into MKS once they've filled up on more obvious growth stocks.

Can't understand how LSE allow this blatant ramping. I reported a couple of these posts but they haven't been removed.

I nearly sold out a tranche earlier today at 1390 but decided to leave all my chips in. When "out of favour "stocks become "in favour", I figured that I would be giving money away.

Any profit taking tomorrow may simply create another buying opportunity.

Plenty of the technical indicators are still showing upside and it's still quite some way below the end of year SP so the positive update ought to attract new buyers. Given how much negativity there is more generally in the market to the government measures, COST is operating in one of the "favoured" sectors so I can see the potential for this to acquire momentum features.

I'd be surprised if we are not back in 3 figures by the end of the week.

I only regret not buying more this morning but I'll console myself that I hadn't had enough time to do the research. There's still plenty of upside here so unless the SP goes through the roof, I'll be holding these for a little while.

Fender5, can you point to any of your posts which gave any findings? I can see plenty with opinions on price targets but I can't see anything showing evidence for your views. All very well taking advice but I for one would need to understand the rationale behind that before following the opinions on anonymous message boards.

Hard to see what you might be upset about with JDS15's comments. Perhaps you might want to reread your comments about analysts scratching their balls before copy-pasting the work of others, as I think they have a stronger case for taking offence.

Well trackers are for passive investment. But there may be more demand from the active mid-cap funds and I think GAMA would be a popular pick. But the bottom line is that there is more money to play for in the main market.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say it will break 140p some time before July 2025.

How did you get 2000 tonnes for Roan? 75k x 1.5% x 4 is over 4500 tonnes.

Market sentiment can be a fickle beast and will turn in time. When it does it will be good to be on the right side so I support the view that owners should not be selling at this price. The upside is there but the prophets of doom are in the ascendancy and retail is their target. If you are underweight then I would recommend a rebalance at these prices.

Medium to longer term there are three arguments I would suggest which supports a positive movement

1 - the shares are oversold and the price hit already exceeds the full cost of NIC increases

2 - no value has been assigned to the ability of the company to offset the increased costs from April, something that anyone who knows a little about M&S would find startling. The same constant stream of negativity suggests that those costs will lead to inflation but none of this inflation seems to be flowing back to M&S. Machin's statement that M&S will seek to absorb the extra costs is a measured directed largely at customers but I think we can safely assume that they will see only a modest hit to margins.

3 - It's a quality long term stock with good profit growth potential.

Personally I am a tad overweight here having bought some more at 350p to add to a long-term holding. At 320p, I'm tempted to add but will wait a little longer to see if there is a better price down the road. But profits will still be in the form of "free shares" because of the longer term potential here.

The public finances are in a mess and the public need to know about it because you're never going to get them under control if people don't understand there is some level of sacrifice needed. It seems the alternative is some Trump-style mythology that taxes can be mysteriously levied on foreign imports and that tax cuts can pay for themselves or the bills can be passed to a future generation by which time they are even higher.

Certainly good for future profitability. Hard to tell how much it will move the share price in the short term as it's not clear to me that the market is placing much value yet on the copper processing at JLP.

I've found some further explanatory documents which outline the purpose of the resolutions. I can't say that I fully understand the legalese but this is my intepretation

Resolution 15 give the Board the right to issue up to £110m new shares (two-thirds of current issued share capital) of which half must be offered to existing shareholders. As I think might have been mentioned, this is to give them flexibility to raise capital if needed but there is no intention to use this right.

There are other special resolutions (17 and 18) that allow a further 22% of shares to be allotted.

SP of the shares is 250p. The nominal value of each of those shares is 1p
