At a share price of 12p, the option is worth around 3.8-4.2p (tweaking the different assumptions for volatility and interest rates). At these prices you are possibly right that it is easier to pay 24p for two shares now than pay 16p for one share plus a warrant.
But as I have said before the SP seems to have lost all connection to any sense of fair value. We do need a little more realism in the funding, I can agree this is a problem, but once the prospects improve and progress is made with strategic investors, the current SP will be be forgotten and it will become a tale to tell to your grandkids.
