Well he certainly can be blamed for not even starting regulator engagement for over six months after they started Tech Transfer of the Mologic antigen test, so they would know what protocols the company would need to jump through to get the company to market.

Colin has been played by the UK government, as a holding card, and unfortunately took his eye of the visitect ball, which now we are urgently trying to get back in the game.

Innova Lateral Flow device, which missed 60 percent of SARS-CoV-2 cases (if PCR testing is taken as the ‘standard’). The take home message is that open access Lateral Flow testing for symptomless people is very unlikely to provide a cost-effective additional element in managing the covid-19 pandemic.

You have to ask why the government would stonewall the approval process of any potential Sovereign test, but then you think about the conversations the must be having with the MHRA regarding home use EUA extensions and the words "no viable alternative at present" will surely be thrown into the mix by the DHSC to support continued use of the Innova crap.

Have you studied the DHSC/ODX contract, beyond pre-production its a lemon, depending on the government to make a test available and to ask ODX to make it, If Innova remains an option for the DHSC the numbers just dont support any likely hood of any call for ODX to supply any actual tests,

The innova contract doesn't run out, unfortunately unlike the lemon contract we signed with the DHSC the innova contract was for the "purchase Innova SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Qualitative test kits for self-test use", of which the company have said they have delivered close to 1Billion to the UK already.

Its the EUA for home use secured by NHS Test and Trace, with the DHSC as the approved manufacturer that is due for renewal/review on the 22nd June., But the DHSC have already positioned itself to support the renewal of the EUA in its current guise.

"A decision [will be] taken on whether it remains in the interests of the protection of health for a further authorisation or an amendment to this authorisation to be made,” the MHRA told the Department of Health in a letter.

The MHRA allegedly was concerned by the department’s move in April to include Innova’s LFT as part of its mass testing programme, calling it “a stretch” of its EUA authorisation.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health insisted that every test used as part of the national programme “has undergone rigorous clinical evaluation”.

@megatro: You would think that this was using the UK government half of the available capacity, otherwise why would we be needing the DHSC to facilitate these discussions.

The question being why discussions outside of the DHSC contract to supply, if the Sovereign test was on the near horizon

If we had spare "Non DHSC" capacity why on earth were we not having these discussions independently and a long time ago.

@Frobertdude: Not sure the impact today has been caused by ramping/deramping on here, surely we were expecting this impact based on the numerous news articles that hit yesterday and the lack of response from the UK government.

For me nothing has changed here, the DHSC contract was always a Lemon, that has been clear for weeks if not months ODX should be throwing everything at the approval processes in the EU (a little disappointed with the recent update that they were only starting the process), End of July it is then, big question is what will the SP be at then ?

Anyone who sits through the media questions on any of the Covid-19 updates will know how ineffective the British media are, they are all interested in asking the same question which has already been answered, and are so scared of being excluded from the in-crowd not one makes any attempt to ask any uncomfortable questions.

@Wadogara: Get a grip, i dont care whose test we make as long as we make someones, the Mologic view, convinces me even more the government have no intention of selecting a test for manufacturing under the DHSC contract, instead we will be manufacturing for innova, Visitect orders will come at the end of July with EU home use approval

@Rocquet, the point being how many of these are Uk developed and eligible for the Sovereign test selection criteria, if indeed we still think the Sovereign test selected will be UK developed rather tgan simply UK manufactured
