Zac, we've heard recently from many of the Oil bears out there, but there are still many Oil bulls, eg GS and Barclays. I remain invested and agree there's manipulation rinse and repeat to a large extent at play.

When someone starts name calling or insulting unconstructively then I accept that that person is unable to properly debate or argue a point. I do know what bots are and am very computer literate, very well educated. I am no more a bot than you or other humans are. Elon Musk pulled out of Twitter (note the spelling) because he views and treats things in a different way to us. Though Twitter's price was c £45b, Elon looks upon such a purchase as another toy he felt he needed and he was having a little fun at same time. Religion is probably one of the biggest cons on Earth, the amount of money spent in it and for it is phenomenal and where is the actual proof of our Maker or of the after life promised in the various Books ? Maybe you can prove it ? All in name of security and giving life some sort of extra purpose !! As far as food and eating is concerned, just look around and read the stats re obesity levels in UK and Europe generally. Meat is higher contributor to warming the Earth, mind you I do like chicken, but veggies, fruit and pulses are cheaper and more healthy as is extra water, etc.. So yes, the right tightening of food supply for many is right, many of us do eat too much of the wrong foods. Do you consume more than 2,000 cals per day ?!!!

Hi Badprophet, safer to be out in one respect (certainty), but generally the sum of the parts exceeds the previous Total so would expect my Total Investment Market Value to be roughly same on day of split. What I was talking about re tax treatment relates to calc of the net costs assigned to Haleon and to new GSK after the split from let's say a pre-split Total Net Cost Investment in GSK of £20,000. My understanding is that one uses the first initial sp of each Haleon and new GSK as a weighted avg to allocate the historic net cost of £20k, so it may calculate to £8k Net Cost in Haleon and £12k Net Cost in new GSK as just an arbitrary example.

Well Jefff, guess many of us could do with less eating. Probably healthy for me to cut my eating by 10-20% and drink more water, that'd counter the higher food prices, but don't think Farmers would concur !! Isn't life so full of contradictions !!!

pernix, SHEL not rising much 7/7 probably due to investors/traders not perceiving how really good a share SHEL is. Low Carbon deals made recently Qatar and others, etc...GS has increased target sp to EUR42 today, c GBP35 !!! What's not to like !!

moniman, Talks shd have little PoO impact apart from a war possibly ending. West won't deal with Russia any more than it currently does just because of peace talks or even a peace solution. Rookie1, spelling and grammar isn't very highly correlated with financial success these days, BUT it does give pointers as to General Education and Attention to Detail which are two elements that certainly increase the chances of financial success. I'm old school, not a spring ****, which no doubt you've guessed, but J do view things objectively. For example, suppose you saw a military parade where the soldiers wore untidy uniforms, marched out of tandem, etc.. Now they may still be the best fighters, best shooters, highest trained technically for missile launchers, etc... Suppose the Red Arrows at recent Jubilee flew out of tandem, generated 90 instead of 70 for queen's time in office, again what impression would you form ? I served many years ago with a reserve army and if a button or boots weren't properly polished, even if one was a Rambo, no allowances would be made. Hope you are doing well financially, though having £100k losses in one share inspires little confidence, correct spelling and grammar is all part of the image one portrays to others along with dress code and physical appearance, etc... That's partly why poor Boris will fail. Look at Macron, etc.. Zalensky can be pardoned in view of his war situation. Saw picture of David Beckham last night immaculately dressed in suit, etc.. though he also could do with some work on his grammar, but obviously thinks it not important enough considering all his other success kpi's !! Rookie1, with the greatest of respect, after reading your post below with your statement of being down £100k on HBR alone (implied at least), your assertion of Govt Control Conspiracy, your spelling and grammar mistakes (even allowing for some typos) and your general view of world systems, I think you're the one who has acted stupidly. I also have HBR and will buy more soon. I am down but also have BP. and SHEL oil stocks within a large portfolio. I buy into the WT being cancelled if pump and Power prices go down enough. You need to study Portfolio investing and spreading your risk. This is qualified by you not having £millions to invest because being down £100k on HBR alone means you have maybe 50,000+ shares so circa £250k+ invested here which is very stupid unless you do have many £ millions !!

Yes, mystified why this fell so much today considering it is such a good defensive stock in difficult times. I won't say Recession as there is none at present and all the noise is about a perceived imminent Recession. It's 3%+ drop today shows just how scattered the Market movements are.
