Customers are wary of dealing with fraudsters because of lack of trust. Personally, I would execute those involved in very serious fraud, eg Madoff who now is dead amd US let him live due to his old age, and even Mike Lynch, but lucky for them I'm not in charge !! I admit I couldn't run this business, but this business has been run very badly since mid-2020. Having technology that can kill the virus in a pandemic and yet not converting that into massive financial success after buying a machine to produce masks which can't produce masks, going into a JV with a larger company ro sell masks and not selling many masks. I could go on....Wtf are the nnn mgt really doing ?

No, not cold, just wore an extra layer in evening and closed curtains, kept room doors shut, etc..., to hold in heat from the day. These practices were done years ago and need reviving, there are some sources informing those brought up amidst 20C heating, etc.. I grew up in a big old house, 1850's built, with no central heating, no radiators, just a small electric heater in my bedroom and coal fire in living room, didn't do me any harm and made me more able to tolerate lower temps. Mind you, temps above 30C are not my thing at all, an Arctic cruise more attractive !!

Totally agree Craigl. I admit I have an Internal Combustion Engine car, 2004, have never owned a NEW car as far too expensive and avoid the buy on credit strategy. If EV's were far less, and that'll happen at some stage for 2nd hand, I'd gladly buy one, but my 2004 Ford Fiesta cost me c Gbp800 and maybe Gbp400 servicing pa, if it goes bang it goes bang and I've lost little. A NEW car depreciates more pa in its first 10 yrs. Fortunately, I've never considered a car a status or class symbol, ie 'Look at me I drive a Porsche', etc.., and tbh could buy one myself if I was crazy enough. BP is solid short and long term, but Looney needs to watch what he says and not invite a Windfall Tax by saying BP has more cash than it knows what to do with and that BP UK investment wouldn't reduce if a Windfall Tax, why not increase divs or buybacks as an alternative ?

doubleorquits8, Oil went up today despite stockmarkets, cryptos, etc... falling !! Even in a recession, Oil is a necessity. With economies opening up more, more will travel, that'll use up some of the drop caused by lower economic activity (if any). Russia threatening to supply less Oil to the West puts BP and SHEL in an even better position. Constant changes by Johnson and Sunak re a Windfall Tax lack integrity if you ask me. BP and SHEL haven't been compensated for their losses in 2020 and 2021 and exiting Russia (forced on them by the UK Govt and other Govts). Hearing all the moaning re fuel and electricity poverty, etc... bewilders me. I dropped our thermostat to 13C in mid-Mar22 and turned off the Central Heating from early Apr22 so only Hot Water now heated for 30 mins p/day. The wife needed a lot of persuading !! Electricity more difficult to reduce but apply common sense to reduce as much as possible. Awareness of usages is the key. I've always 'cut my cloth to suit my situation' and now is a good time. I drive slower also to reduce petrol costs, simply listen to radio more !! Politicians need to educate the populous about how to budget, eg if heating oil costs twice as much then use half the amount !! So I'm Holding, the large shortage of oil should keep prices relatively high for longer and BP and SHEL with it.

I have shares outside a tax free wrapper, eg ISA, so the US treatment from your link would provide same result as deferring the proceeds and then adding them to proceeds received when shares sold in the future, prorata basis, also using original base cost of shares, to calculate CGT gain or loss. The US approach ignores the Return of Capital for CGT calcs but reduces the base cost of the shares to account for the Consolidation and Return of Capital. Will contact Aviva Investor Relations to clarify. Thanks.

Scrip issues / divs are liable for taxes same as the cash receipt of the dividend. If you receive value it is either tax assessed under Inc Tax or CGT if a return of capital is involved. Revenue and HMRC aren't that daft !!

Hello all, would appreciate clarification please re upcoming Dividend and Capital Consolidation. The Dividend /Return of the £3.7b cash appears to me to be a Capital Return, ie is treated as proceeds for CGT, rather than an Income Dividend treated within Income Tax ? Appreciate any feedback Thanks

Any Windfall Tax payable will reduce BP's investment in low/no carbons !! I believe both BP and SHEL have made that clear to Govt.

Gary, I believe SHEL may be able to dispose of their Russian interests to the Chinese, unknown for how much but there are still some honest ethics in business so may be a reasonable amount ?

Read many of the Fri 22/4 posts and no-one says they have actually asked Volz why they don't advertise NNN masks. Sorry if I missed a post that has asked Volz. But with all the back and forth, why has nobody asked Volz WHY ?

Agree Toff, but the investors who sell, panic or otherwise, make their own decisions. Also, the funds or otherwise who collude or manipulate are in a digital sense the same as those Russian soldiers who have and are committing genocide in Ukraine's Bucha, Mariupol, etc...Both are criminally illegal and morally wrong, just one is Fraud, the other Murder, Rape, Property Destruction, etc..., and the people involved know what they themselves are even if never legally punished in this life. I'll be adding many more of these to my portfolio in the near future so the lower the better. We have no control over these criminals, so can only otherwise do our best !!
