A possible delay at the Italian plant, made more likely by comments about the wet weather, is that the biomass they have in store to feed the plant is wet.
Looking at the video they have to dry the biomass with hot air before using it - I guess when its wet this takes much longer.

With improving weather the biomass available will be dryer and the process will run much smoother.

The ideal on the run up to winter will probably be to have a dry store of biomass built up over the Summer into Autumn that can be used at this time of the year.

So, this could be what has delayed full commissioning of the plant???

I think that's more to do with the slower rollout of renewables because of the global economic problems and Covid.

But the impetus to adopt renewables has now grown considerably not just as a consequence of climate change but mainly due to the energy crisis, now the main driver, and set to stay that way because a lack of investment in oil and gas will keep supply short and prices high. Also nuclear power generation isn't enough to fill the gap.

This isn't just an opportunity for renewables, its absolutely imperative that renewables fill the gap left by undersupply of fossil fuels or the world runs the risk of running out of energy.

The current revenue issue is actually a red herring.

Most of the revenue currently comes from the small pilot factory in Surrey.
The point of this factory, apart from raising some revenue, is to develop ways to scale up the new tech to fully illustrate to future licensing partners what is achievable, so that they can hit the ground running.

Don't forget that signing the China deal is the trigger for the move to the main market - straight into the FTSE250.
We will probably see a big rise in institutional investment as a result alongside a very solid and substantial rise in the SP.

The thread is about Starmer's motivations and trying to work out his likely course of action over the next few years.

In other words will he sacrifice North Sea Oil to advance his own pursuit of power to look like he is doing something to combat climate change - an issue that the majority of voters are concerned about, including 88% of Labour voters.

Personally, I think that its highly likely that he will, regardless of the consequences - they probably won't even be considered.

Also note that the Big Oil companies are developing their own futures with renewables at the core of their business - they won't be offering their political and lobbying power to the North Sea oil and gas industry as they have in the past.

I was backing up the claim with YouGov survey numbers - these surveys are done anonymously, so they are more likely to be correct.
The main driver for peoples concerns over climate change is that we are already seeing the effects around the globe on a more or less weekly basis - most people this is an issue that won't go away and has to be dealt with even if things get tough re supply of oil and gas.

That's just the point mrc - Scots may favour more oil and gas production but alongside that 74% of Scots are worried about climate change - they are confused, but will ultimately follow the matra from Starmer and Sturgeon that more oil is bad and less oil is good.

As I stated its a knee jerk reaction or a black and white decision by most people - less oil is good - more oil is bad.
Starmer is simply jumping on this bandwagon without explaining the consequences.

If you look at the results from YouGov, you will see that he is on firm ground pushing this narrative, the fact that it doesn't stand up to scrutiny is irrelevant to him, power is more important.

Starmer, at the moment, is simply telling the majority of UK voters what they want to here, while parading himself around as a leader in waiting - hence the trip to Davos.

Reality will only be accounted for if he is elected - although it seems when he is elected that is more relevant - then energy policy will be revisited.

The real worry for the Oil and Gas industry has to be that Starmer is using this issue as a vote winner - clearly the majority of UK voters do want to see an end to Gas and Oil in the North Sea as a knee jerk reaction to climate change and energy policy without regard for the consequences.

If Starmer does come into power it will probably depend on how high up energy policy and climate change is in the public agenda at the time, that decides what action he takes.

The balance between production and consumption is governed by the market - however imperfect.

Those that produce nothing are at the mercy of others or the state.

Its interesting to note that the last two January trading updates have both been on the 26th - odds on for next Thursday 26th I think!

It would be good to see IP Group take a stake - that would be a massive endorsement of the tech and undoubtedly attract more institutional investment.

There is certainly an opportunity to build a big stake here for institutional investors or wealthy private investors.
There is just 21.72% of the share capital not in private hands with Altair holding 18.19% as at the 11th Jan 2023.

Hopefully with company fortunes improving we will see more shares moving to sticky hands - this is the normal progression, but we need to see well over 50% in sticky hands before the SP starts to impress.

With so much share liquidity there will always be a high level of volatility created by the logarithms to encourage trading and earn the mm's their profits - this trading in turn creates more volatility.

Assuming none of the other major shareholders have sold recently, Richard Sneller's holding brings the total shares in sticky hands to over 65%.
This has to be very good news, its now much more likely that the SP will continue to move up due to the decreasing liquidity, as we have seen today.

The point of nuclear is that it does act as a back up for what ever is the primary source of power generation being used - fossil fuels or renewables - just use it as its needed.

If more nuclear power had been available at the moment we probably wouldn't have had our current energy crisis.
So it is relevant that Government subsidies the building of nuclear power stations and its probably a cheaper option in the long run because it will even out energy costs for all of us and avoid shortages.
