The SP has stopped its upward trend for the time being and is just following the market with exaggerated volatility - meanwhile we wait for news with excited anticipation.

My first thought was that the WFT was put in place to raise tax income but I now think that I was wrong.
I now think the purpose is to deter investment in hydrocarbons.

Sorry but I have to mention renewables now.
The strong investment flow into offshore wind is no longer dependent on Government subsidy.
Just last month the Crown Estate signed lease agreements for another 5 wind farms to potentially provide electricity for 7 million homes.

Also tidal power is now commercially viable - not high capital tidal schemes - but simple tidal turbines that are deployed in areas where tidal flow is high. We could see fast track deployment in the same manner as offshore wind. The power produced would give backup in the same way as nuclear on still days.

So, I think that both main parties are basically singing from the same hymn sheet and are just trying to deter investment in hydrocarbons.

It takes 10,000 liters of water to produce one kilogram of cotton and the kids only wear the garments once before they send them back or they fall to bits.

All Enquest need to do is to go back to the pre Covid plan A and become the go to decommissioning experts in the North Sea for big oil and spin that they are cleaning up the North Sea for the benefit of the environment.

Then they can extract as much oil as possible from the depleted fields before decommissioning, maybe using Enquest Explorer.

Also, gain as much reflected glory as possible from Sullom Voe renewable energy hub without risking much capital.

Rename Bressay and Bentley as part of the Kraken field and quietly extend production with AK.

Maybe look for more opportunities in Malaysia.

Big oil is overpriced now - if I was going to invest in oil, ENQ is a far better prospect for capital gain with a few tweaks.

Unfortunately ENQ just lacks popularity at the moment - can easily be fixed though.

The ultimate problem for North Sea Oil companies like Harbour and Enquest is that they have lost the protection of Big Oil, especially BP and Shell, who now have their own agenda.

They are now fair game for politicians to strip away their profits and to regulate them into oblivion, if that is the publics or their parties will.

Its no good for North Sea oil companies to simply carry on business as they have in the past, they have to learn how to play the game in the same way as BP and Shell have done. Play the game and it will also do wonders for the SP.

In mid-January 2023, the Company and plant operations team ran the full gasification process on manual controls and is now setting it up for automatic mode. As part of its tests, the Company also produced biochar from the plant."

Eqtec is more like a Runner Bean seed that hasn't sprouted yet.
ITM is a rotten Apple.

Nuclear power is actually a crucial component in the shift to renewables in most countries.
In the UK it will act as a back up to offshore wind - the only other viable alternative would be tidal power in the long term.

Therefore, using nuclear power to produce the electricity needed for hydrogen production will be essential when wind power is not available. Also it may be possible to use steam produced by nuclear power station to power electrolysers - they need electricity and steam to give 80-90% efficiency - see clip below [note the reference to low carbon electricity]

The frustration continues with funding.

Many Equtec projects are ready to go but as many businesses are finding the capital needed just isn't available.

Hopefully as interest rates settle and inflation reduces we will see an expansion in growth.

As the global economy improves it will be up to Governments to incentivise investment in renewables.
With the vulnerability of energy supplies and global warming this has to be the priority.

Its been quite a day, one of my other holdings BBSN, also did a placing today after an major acquisition and their share price also hardly moved - actually a very good investment but DYOR.

The two companies are in entirely different fields - BBSN is in digital marketing - but both companies have exceptionally good management.

Today's news and the RNS issued on the 22nd April 2022 seem to confirm that the fundraise is to be used to establish a European manufacturing facility.
In other words, the mini fund raise last April was used to to start to develop the European market opportunity and todays fundraise is to capitalise on that opportunity.
