With Ocado Retail working at full capacity its obviously preferable to have a high percentage of high margin sales, customers make their choice, go for quality and pay accordingly. So as long as this continues and capacity is maxed out, there seems little point it trying to compete on price with other retailers.
In the longer term as capacity increases this may have to change - I have always thought that it would be a good idea to sell the other 50% of Ocado Retail to a mid market player such as Morrisons, then you could talk about competing full on with Tesco.
