OK, that's fine - I just wanted to clarify that important point - Suncor have nothing to gain from a delay.

Its difficult to over emphasise how important vertical farming could become to UK Horticulture - the cost savings could be enormous.

All the problems the industry has at the moment after Brexit are mainly related to finding pickers to work in the fields or hot glasshouses doing a very tough job.

Working in a Vertical farming environment would be more like working in a factory and with the crops coming to the workers would be far less arduous and much more suited to UK nationals.

Lots of industry insiders, including me, will be looking with interest at how the new Jones Farm unit develops and if successful, I think we could see a rapid roll out of many more such units.

I doubt Suncor are in a hurry to complete with Brent at these levels.

These small cap AIM shares are totally unpredictable.
Its just a case of picking very well and sticking for as long as it takes if you are a long term holder, regardless of the SP.

The traders control the SP in the short term, hence the volatility, just take advantage and buy on the dips.

I have come to the conclusion that in the short term the SP is totally irreverent to the eventual fortunes of these early stage growth companies and that if they are good enough they will eventually rise out of the mire when the numbers look good.

The encouraging thing about EQT is that it seems like maybe next year the numbers will start to look good, even though it might take another couple of years to rise out the mire.

Chickens home to roost here today - a lesson in not taking enough profit margin - no place to go when costs rise - especially when suppliers are also squeezed so much that they cannot pay their employees the minimum wage.

Helikon is a long/short fund - typically these funds take long positions in what they consider to be undervalued stocks and also short other stocks.

They haven't sold all their holding so I don't think we can jump to any conclusions as to why they have reduced.

It seems that the consensus is that CWR remains a strong hold.

Strong numbers, well financed, excellent potential and FTSE250 next year.

The charts help here - anyone who invested before the end of February 2020 is still showing a very healthy profit - those who invested in the last year are showing a loss because the trend since then has been down.

So it comes down to investors assessment of the company fortunes for the long term.

My assessment is that a very good base for growth has been created and that it is only a matter of time before the SP starts moving forward again. Therefore, there is a good chance that the current SP is at or near the bottom of its range.

Halma - remember as this is a growth share, you will always see more volatility - just invest in the dips.

This isn't a physical asset that's changing hands - its just a paper asset with revenue diverted from Suncor to Enquest - its all taking far too long

This video is interesting - note that the Basil is being harvested by hand in the existing factory.

What I would like to see in the new factory is a combination of the harvesting and packing at one central location and more mechanisation.

In conventional horticulture the harvesting and packing are in two operations - if they could be combined into one operation at the vertical farm then the labour saving is obvious. Also using robots is another obvious way to save labour.

The benefits of vertical farming have been well documented but labour saving hasn't been emphasised because it is so commercially sensitive - this is all very exciting!

Its the number of staff needed for the new farm that could be the game changer Valueplay - if there is a substantial saving in staff compared to other horticultural practices then this really could be a winner that could be rolled out at speed.

All the while that spare capacity exists and supply can be manipulated, I think there will political pressure and the market will have relative stability within the $65 - $75 range for Brent - this will greatly aid the global economic recovery.
Oil traders will also know they risk getting burnt if they trade above this range.

The question remains if demand can outstrip available supply?

There seems no clear answer to this question - mainly, I think because it is not clear how fast global demand for oil will increase and how long it will take the US producers to increase production and even if they will increase production.

Its the eventual staffing requirement that will be interesting, especially as this farm is the first with Ocado involvement.

Reducing labour is key throughout commercial horticulture with many UK companies moving their operations to the EU because they cannot source reliable labour after Brexit.
