That was certainly par for the course in April 2020 and only to be expected - supermarkets employ a large pool of workers on short hour contracts at around the statutory minimum wage. They typically work three hour shifts without a break. If they are required for longer shifts that are asked to clock out for an hour in the middle of their seven hour shift.

For many employers the labour market for unskilled labour is like any other market - pay as little as you can get away with - but now that there is a shortage of labour, employers, including supermarkets, will have to up their game and pay more and offer better working conditions.

I guess that many HGV drivers are shifting jobs to take advantage of higher wages and better working conditions.

The issue most drivers complain about most is getting held up at drops, this delays them getting home, so companies that run a slick ship will have no problems keeping fully staffed and stocked but other companies who are disorganised will only get worst even with extra drivers from the EU.

The media is as always concentrating on the negatives - there will always be negatives to find.

All in all the UK is in good shape, with the potential to do much better but the immigration policy does need to be relaxed, especially to allow manual and health care workers access.

With Bressay and Bentley in production and AK still chugging along, Enquest could be the last oil producer in the North Sea by 2035 with BP owned wind turbines circling the coastline and mini Shell Nuclear power plants being built in every county.

I didn't say that we had dropped out the uptrend - I was talking about the step down with the update on 2nd September.

Its the momentum since July 19th that took the SP to 26p that Enquest has lost, with a decent update that would have continued and pushed the SP over 30p and then onto 32p with the GE completion RNS.

The net effect is that it will take another good update to push the SP over 30p and that will also rely on Brent.

As for comparisons with the other three, they all have their own specific problems that have driven their SP's.

Its simply down to the latest update - momentum was building very nicely until then with sentiment high.

Now, we have to start again, hopefully the GE deal completion will help but that will just be the first step back with 26p the target.

If the update had been better we should have seen 32p when the GE deal completed.

This isn't just short term damage to the SP its a long term push back that should concern long term holders - momentum and sentiment were lost again - only a good update next time can reverse the damage done but the SP will still be one step lower.

Its looking now that £2 with the Christmas sales figures may be about right.

if the new owners of Morrisons do decide to put in a bid for the other 50% of Ocado Retail then providing the price and timing were correct then I guess Ocado Group would probably do the deal - maybe next year instead of an equity raise?

We could also see other bidders after the prize including M&S and maybe even Kroger.

I don't think that owning 10% would prevent a takeover - AB would probably find the vote for a takeover was 90% in favour if the price was right.

The key to making money from oil and gas in the decades ahead will be restricting supply - less drilling - better margins on what is produced as the market switches away from oil powered transport.

The oil majors have a major role here, it will be them who deliver the switch from carbon to renewables using their profits from oil to invest in renewables to enable the change.

Companies like Enquest will be left to supply crude for other industrial uses, hopefully by that time Bentley and Bressay will be in production and due to supply constraints Brent will be at many multiples what it is today.

As always, in any industry, when a supply chain is under strain it is the firms who look after their staff and pay them well who will be unaffected.
M&S can fully exploit their position in the market place at times like this and get full price with minimal discounting and less waste.

Evergrande have reached agreement on the interest payment for their domestic bond - hence the rise of their SP and commodities followed.
Its still not clear how they will pay the interest on their overseas bond - due today.

Looking on google maps, its an excellent location close to the M8 Glasgow - Edinburgh road.

The site itself is part of a very large scale industrial park with Amazon, Brew Dog, Stobart, Hermes, Morrisons, Lidl, DPD and Next, to name but a few, all on the same site.

Enquest have been treading water since the highs of Autumn 2018, doing little more than servicing debt, therefore, I think its difficult to judge AB on performance since then - that's why it will be so interesting to see how he handles good news

With all due respect Neil, but this forum is for Ocado investors who have made the decision to invest in the company based on their own personal assessment and investment goals.

You are without doubt entitled to you views and you have made them very clear and I think we get the message, but its probably time, as they say, to button it now.

It may be better to give it a rest on the Ocado board now Neil - just keep up the very positive contribution that you make on the M&S board - please.
