Bigtosh and GBG29 May 2015 23:05
Good evening BT, good to hear from you and yes, I am keeping ok thanks.
well done, 200p reached and held, excellent. In fact, well done all of you who have held through a turbulent year last year and up until now. Just proves, it doesn't always to pay to believe everything or a lot of things you read, sometimes it is better to go with our gut feelings and past experience. Had I not sold in October last year I would have been substantially better off but that's life, some we win, some we lose and I made a good profit, so not too many regrets. I am still looking for that magic formula to identify winners like the rest of us and in this case I chose to look too closely at what one well known commentator wrote suggesting that GBG was overpriced and questioned their financial reporting, choosing to paint too rosey a picture. Hmm.
I am in the rare position (careful what I write here trying not to tempt fate) that my portfolio is performing decently with all my holdings showing a profit, some more than others. I have decided to throw out all the highly speculative dross which has cost me dearly in the past. I still look for shares which meet the Zulu Principle criteria but try to combine it with the Stockopedia rankings and what Robbie Burns looks for in a share before investing. However, right now, I feel I have enough invested in the market and would rather sell to buy rather than have too many holdings and have too much to check re RNS etc. Sometimes, like GBG we just have to let some good ones go.
Hope all is well with you BT and MrsBT. I head South tomorrow at about 4 am to spend some time with my elderly mother so will be out of contact for a few days or so. Will catch up upon my return.
Regards and good luck all
