Yes but . .Today 01:37
""I do wonder how much more suffering there will be in the UK as a result of BJ's loosely justified procrastinations the last week or two - in the face of almost all advice and evident experiences around the World with Covid-19"".
""C7 the policy now abandoned, (i.e. waiting for herd immunity), has not worked.""
These are very strong accusations and words. We have been told measures will be stepped up, when the ""time"" dictates. The same words being used by leaders across the world. It is my opinion ""time"" is seeing results across the globe as to measures brought in to combat this virus and ""time"" is also what is needed to plan for Government help in overcoming the financial repercussions that will follow,
To suggest that anybody was prepared fully for what has developed to lay the burden of blame on individuals, without knowing any facts behind the reasoning behind ""timing"" is irresponsible at best
As far as Italy is concerned, and I make no claims to speak as an ""expert"" as you do, brings even more concerns to the table. The first known death in Italy was on the 21st February and we saw just 3 weeks later the death toll rise by nerly 400 people in a 24 hour period to over 1.800 people. I can only imagine what scientists have gleaned about the virus from that alone and from conversations on Sunday it couldn"t have been a surprise to anybody the measures brought in yesterday and those that will come in this week whilst new bills are passed in parliament.
The last thing we need at this moment in ""time"" is to create so much doubt as to our own stratagy. Hearing stories yesterday of huge movements of people forming groups to assist the elderly and infirm is just one huge positive that i hope will help those who are less able to help themselves, and yes I did put myself out to listen to what WHO were saying. Questioning the practicalitiess of implementing all they had to say is quite another subject, imagine how much ""time"" will be needed to invoke that. But the bottom line to that was when I heard they had raised the billions of dollars needed fo to even begin too, and their gratitude to America for providing the biggest proportion of that as they called for other countries to add to their coffers too. I will not comment on my thoughts around that, only to very aware of the agendas that drive much of what we hear, but do not know.
I have 22 neighbours here where I live,,as you know, all much older than me, it comes under sheltered housing for those who are challenged but can live independantly (supposedly), I will choose to minimise as many risks as I can, but loneliness of the elderly is just another issue we need to address. I will assist in that, and with just a little luck out of the impending doom, better society might be born, it certainly won"t be the same.
