Interesting article Ray, and it shows also the side of journalists to be out of line, and essentially confuse patients.
This part.................Still, Ward says she would like to see more openness. “I know people working to advise the government are restricted in what they are allowed to share and I think that is a problem. We need as much transparency as possible,” she says.

Well we all get that, and I don"t believe for a second we are not being as transparant as we can. She highlights the situation and then creates over an issue which I for one understand
Again,.This part.................Still, Ward says she would like to see more openness. “I know people working to advise the government are restricted in what they are allowed to share and I think that is a problem. We need as much transparency as possible,” she says.
Well the fact is whoever is working in government whether they be Chief Medical Officer, Scients or Politicians must have restrictions and they as difficult as it is with the situation gaining apace must speak with absolute certainty on the same page, otherwise there would mass panic, and people will be none the wiser as to what to do. It is that kind of journalism which I spoke about earlier, unhelpful, fear mongering and considering we are just citizens of this country we must put our trust in the manner in which this is handled. Gradually gradually impose stricter modes of transport restrictions, think of the consequences of closing schools where parents will be inable to be a parent at all and funny thing is a couple of journalists currently on Sky News are talking the same language as me.
I guess many of you have seen a new advert from Cancer Research U.K., a cartoon version where this poor man recently diagnosed stands in alarm as the advise rolls out from all sorts. I can really relate to that when I was first diagnosed with cancer, the overload of information from doctors, and what is in effect advice that people close to you need to offer, can leave you in a state of absolute confusion. It is not helpful, it is overload and I can see similar things here with journalists and people who all know better than the people who do know better.
Lets get this right and IMHO wait for government spokesmen who are best positioned to advise us as one voice and no confusion which can only lead to panic.
