Just out of interest it seems that evry European country is exhausting all equipment and have a lack of ICU beds, let alone normal beds.

In Italy where they have double the capacity for ICU beds they are setting up tents in the hardest hit parts of Lombardy to treat serious coronavirus victims on the streets. One of the reasons they have a higher capacity for ICU beds is I am told by my Italian friends because earthquakes are a serious risk at all times. Is there any country that you know of that is not struggling to meet a capacity that was totally unforeseen? Genuine Question, and I welcomed Ivys comments that this is no time for recriminations, just to handle this in the best way we can.

We have a scheme manager here where i live, she has just popped by with eggs, T Bags and Sugar and my "neighbour" future partner,had too many bananas, I had too many oranges and they have all found a happy home.

It is an understatement how difficult life will be, but just shows what we can all do, to help one another.

You amaze me, seeking approval from wherever you can, is there any country that has provisions for what is happening?? No there are not. So why have you taken the stance you have?? We will never agree on anything, I just believe you post to anything to that might get get you a rec or two. But the measures the Government are taking have astounded me, they are really trying to do whatever they can to can alleviate panic and help in whatever way they can.

Whether that is enough will always be scrutinised, as I have said many times I am lucky not to have the decisions that many have to take, but surely the best way of helping is to follow Government guidelines, without question, and in a small way is responsible enough for me to cancel any plans I have this week which Help me. I do not understand where you are coming from, particularly being protected from many decisions we have to make in real life, you just sound like an angry person, with many regrets to your own life, but that does not help anybody. Perhaps rather than find fault. look at the bigger picture, and it is my hope that alln people do, regardless to having to make decisions to help self first, that is just human instinct and I find that hard to critice, just hoping this weekend it has changed a lot, and I see no way that your position helps anybody.

What I am trying to say is getting the message to the whole population, not just in the U.K. has been ner impossible to do, and even Rattys post today of seeing his local doctor and family flouting all the messages the Government are sending are quite frightening.

Other countries are included, Spain and Italy are hardly examples of how to deal with this, but more importantly is it not important to deal with the here and now, rather than seek to apportion blame to a disaster that nobody had all the answers too??

You have ignored all the questions I posed, what is the point of finding fault with all the Governments trying to find a way to deal with a pandemic that knows no prescedants, and is far easier to comment on given the data the scientists are seeing?? I have no wish to argue with anything, but seeing anything in retropect is so much more easier, what is vital is dealing with what we have now. Even the markets didn"t respond respond to the initial news from China, we all hoped it would be a situation that would be sorted by the Chinese authorities.

The here and now is all that matters to me, what the Government are trying to do is well above my expectations of how any Government would respond. That needs respecting, and the message ever so slowly seems to be getting through, even if you take into account the human factor, where bad decisions are dominating the headlines. Is that the Governments fault?? No not IMHO just the behavior of those who feel they are immune to the consequences to their actions.

I have no such issues, from day one despite your postings I have listened and learnt, and foreseen the consequences that we are all faced with. As I said in the next couple of days we will see many freedoms taken from us to ensure the safety of all, and I really get the need for everybody to look after their own families and themselves. I do not get what you have been focussing on these past few weeks, it is easy to find fault, not so to find solutions to something which is evolving and scientists themselves are finding out every day, with the benefit of data, which wasn"t available before before it became available.

All 1400 McDonald stores will close from tomorrow. It matters little to me that Primark and such stores are closing too. But it just shows how serious this all is. I never get takeaways, let alone McDonalds but I was thinking in emergencies it was a viable option.

Just goes to show how government measures have been ramped up, I just hope everyone take on board how serious it is. Been told today that care facialtiesfor me, three times a week for two hours each are being withdrawn, I van deal with that and respect it, just hoping the one I have privately still comes regardless of risk to me, she is young and beautiful and I would struggle without her.

Wish you all the very best, that goes without saying, I can tell from the lack of posts how everyone is taking this seriously. Forgive me for posting but that is just a way of expressing myself, living alone and just gettingused to how life is now. It was always my hope that people would think more about others, but I can see how clearly how that is not so easy. My biggest wish is we all we follow government advice and reduce the risk we expose to ourselves and others. I am just realising how that includes what we need, we would like and what is reality. How is the Government paying for this? What a complete turn on austerity, I am sure we will find out in the future.

TF I would ask you this sincerely, in spite of the issues we have which are very clear, is there anything you can see that that the Government has missed?? TBH everything you have posted I have never questioned whether the Government are not aware of, like everything it needs time to implement, and in this case IMHO needs our full backing as there are no prescedants to abide to. More importantly can anybody really say what they are missing, I sincerely believe with all the hardships that will follow they are acting responsibly, to something nobody could foresee, and its interesting the Government are distancing themselves from data we could follow from Italy for example, where data cannot be relied on for how serious the situation is.

As I said I will happily advise you what this list of 1.5m includes, but I am realistic enough not to think that the can help everybody in that list or not. My needs are for medication, which keeps me alive, and a bottle of milk and bread. I am looking at what I don2t need rather than what I do, but getting through to my doctors surgery is impossible, so I will appreciate that help more thn anything, it is a need not a wish.

Been a very inciteful weekend I believe, nothing more than I expected but the reason I objected to a few posts and stances was the timing in creating wholesle panic, I believe they have accounted for that as best they can, and I wouldn"t wish on anybody the responsibilities BJ has to this country. or indeed any World Leader to its own. Which is why I just don"t get the criticism I have had to read here.

And It is just common sense that will pull us through. Two weeks ago I decided to meet my appointent with my Dentist for what was ""surgery"" to create two crowns to replace the gaps that have happened as a result of ill health. They even texted me Friday to confirm I will attendr, tomorrows appt to finish the treatment, but I called my pal who takes me to cancel tomorrows appointment, it just doesn"t mke sense to attend, and this is from an NHS dentist who is wanting me to attend. Well my pal was relieved as I am, and that is what I am talking about, we all need to take mesures to reduce risk in any way we can.

It is my hope that we ignore what we perhaps we should have done to what we know now, and do the best we can to help everybody through a very serious time. IT is irrelevant whether I am on that 1.5m list, but common sense tells me my duty to others as I am a potential carrier to those helping me. I just wish I felt more confident that others feel the same way, but that is a different conversation completely, but does highlight how difficult it is to govern society as a whole, and it is why I feel we will see Government take choice off the agenda in the best interests of all. In my honest opinion we will see that in the days to come, and who can argue that is not the best policy for them to adapt.

I guess as a BB I hope we can promote what the Government need to spread amongst upon us, with the best reasoning possible to reflect the time we are living in, and not for one moment as someone who can be synical to reflect any hidden agendas which seem so obvious to me.

Just waiting now to see if I am on this list of 1.5m people. I hope I am, but will obviously question how the list has been compiled if I am not. Funny enough not relying on that, I am following the best advise possible, do not lack medication that keeps me alive, and just being sensible to what I eat so as not to create problems that are self making. What else can we do??

We are relying on one another to decrease the risks involved, that is not something I feel comfortable with, and am fully expecting to see serious Government measures that will help implement we are being asked to do being implemented in the coming days. Just seeing reports of how St Patricks Day was celebrated in Liverpool and the mile long queues in Snowdonia this weekend frighten me. People are not behaving responsibly, and perhaps they never will.

New York is a prime example of what is going on, I lived there, it is such a dense population as London is. I just want to feel that everybody is following Government directives in this matter, not just maverick contributions from a few. It is so easy to be critical of measures in place, and not so easy to follow directives that we know make sense, and when I look closely at all Government measures in place they differ little to what is happening around the world.

Forgive evrybody who has had to change their stratagy to me that is humility at its best and there is always the matter of creating mass panic to consider. And nomlungu, perhaps I include you here, you gave me advice which I took, and really helped me, in the best faith possible, but things will change as we learn more. My worry is simply that people do not take the advice we are given, and there is much evidence as Ratty expplained that this is not the case.

On the positive side I have been waiing for a time when we all pull together and work as one. I think that is still a pipe dream, but many thanks to Violin Dog who is giving us reports as to how it is, rather than just an opinion.

I would like to see Financial Markets suspended, why are they deemed different to what all of us are doing, lets just hope we really understand what is important to all of us. There will always be things we could have done differently, but personally I am happy for what they are doing, and their readiness to change stratagy, that is being humble IMHO. Is it really interesting??? It is so much easier to find conspiracy theories and individual accounts offering better advice, but is that really helpful at this time??

I am just watching BJ on Breaking News and I understand what they are saying, why don"t these people ensure we all understand best practice rather than the anarchist articles they write.

No not surprised at all. This is the biggest problem the Government faces, people actually doing what the guidelines are. I think we are all starting to realise how difficult that is, I know if my parents were still alive I just couldn"t leave them to look after themselves. That doesn"t come from any need to blame or criticise whatever is in place, and I fully expect any day the Government will bring in restrictions against our freedom to ensure the guidelines are followed to the word.

I hear they have banned gatherings of more than 2 people, excluding family members.

Thanks for replying. it is amazing me how many friends are calling me to ask my advice on ""cabin fever"". The only people I can help advise are those that live on their own and working from home, I can only imagine the pressures on people in the frontlines and family at home to look after.

There are no easy answers, I remember only too clearly when I employed many people how important the buzz was created by everyone was. That is what I am hearing is missing from so many. As my father used to tell me often ""son you are better than any one single person who works for you, otherwise they would do it themselves, but all your staff against you will render everything useless and beat you. How true those words are/were.

The problems are even more difficult to comprehend when we consider there are many others putting their lives in danger by helping us, and even being in contact with us has its owns dangers attached.

Nobody has all the answers, and it is wrong that some find need to criticise that, but very grateful for all the scientists for the work they are doing for all of us. I have read a few comments here that really bother me, i.e. the Prime Minister is paid to handle to this!!!!! Where does that come from, he sure as hell is paid to run the country, but not in the circumstances we are in. So as I believe, and always did, lets get behind them, we can"t do this alone, and maybe it is easier commenting from far away enclaves (TF) where people are less exposed (ATM) to all we have to deal with.. London is in pandemic, all I can do is stay in, as I normally do, but I can"t see how I can advise those who work from week to week to protect their families. This is unprecendented, and needs a unity the likes we have never seen before. Take care.

Would really appreciate reading more as to where we are and what measures we are bringing in, than any ones individual grievances for where we are at, it will simply help many more and help get the messages across that the Government IMHO are bringing in. Be as well as you can guys, this applies to every each and everyone of us. ATB
