Mr Wilks, not bravado at all, only facts based on quite a few years of experience working on FPSOs West of the Shetlands amongst other places around the world. So although I do not claim to be any sort of SMA of Weather, Windage or Plywood, I do know a little about what effect 20kts winds have on FPSOs.

Mr Wilks try sticking your bit of plywood to the side of a fully loaded Artic truck and see what effect it has on that.
And I see your wager. The FPSO crew do not give a toss about a 20knts wind - f you know any FPSO crew that have been involved in a hook up then then feel free to ask them - I have.

Or even a yacht.

Plus - 20kts of wind will have very little effect if any on a large FPSO IMO, by then again I haven't spent much time on a yaught so WTFlipDIK. :-)

Zzz, i really never meant to patronise you at all, I appolgise and can only admire and respect your experience at sea in a yaught, particularly if your yaughts capability or remit included pulling in 1000 tonne bouys west of the Shetlands.

WNI is the trusted forecaster offshore and the most reliable - and they have been showing the same weather window (Mon/Tue) for the last 4-5 days when other providers have allegedly been fluctuating between a clear window to no window for months.
I think that the crew will aim to be in position and start hook up at first light Monday and look to have it completed by mid afternoon when the swell is at its lowest. I do expect the markets to open high next week, 50p would be nice. That may still offer some the chance to buy in whilst the more risk adverse are waiting for an official RNS confirming that no more ropes are needed. Just thankful that I trusted the forecast now, and thought that there was a strong possibility that the AM would sail, instead of listening to the doomsayers on here stating that there was no foreseeable weather window.

And do you know what, if she turns around again on Sunday then I will just wait till the next time.

Zzz, wrong on both counts. Sailing is dictated by Weather Window.m and Windage has minimal impact when the pointy end if into the wind in fact it ussually helps keep her steady - waves and swell are what matters.

Lanc, not bleeding Land as that wouldn't be good.

Suspect that she may stop off and take on a supply of Dr Ts Cigars and Single malt once outside territorial waters. and then change destination for Land once stocked up. ;-).

Dive, TA Leader may be underway from Monday but there is talk of her being in dock till first week April unless plans change. Still good to see the AM finally off on her hopefully penultimate voyage, just hope that Sammy Squid doesn't turn her around again.

Weather Window hasn't shortened at all, if anything the forecast looks better than yeserday Just a pity that we cannot actually post the charts on here but they are available on other forums that show this to be fact.
