Everything has a bottom line, Ocado is no exception - the thing I like about Ocado is their system CANNOT be duplicated like for like, it is patented up to the eyeballs, just ask Autostore who contested the patent, lost and settled out of court - so how are rival companies even going to build something similar to what Ocado have without infringing patent - the answer is they are not - the other option is to buy Ocado - all imho - dyor etc

If it falls I will add - the divi unaffordable stick used to beat VOD with has been removed, promising signs re Africa and Germany - negatives already priced in imo - lets see

I have looked at the new range of clothing and done some research, - it seems to be selling well - the results as always will come down to clothing sales/margins - food is a given and we know full well MKS have taken and continue to take market share - personally I think momentum is now with MKS and clothing will have retained its margins and increased market share - if this is the case and factoring in a pickup in the UK economy, the share is going plus 3 quid imo - the fly in the ointment may well be the monetary settlement with Ocado - need this sorting before results to eliminate any doubts going forward - all imho

Pogo - yes some UK value stocks are undervalued and I believe ITV is one of them, I have stated this already in previous posts but putting in mcaps of around 6 or 7b is just daft - you have to be realistic - I want and believe ITV will go up but in reality the company is the studios with ITVX tagged on - it cannot be valued at more than 4b when the studios alone are valued at 3b - 4b mcap is a 100p share price - that is my target and I am then out - gl and please dyor

Pogo - £1.80 val - based on current shares in circulation that gives an implied mcap of 7.16b - Itv Studios worth 3b max which implies the remainder is worth 4b - at 1.50 which is your max estimate its almost 6b - please explain how you have worked that out as it looks like nonsense to me

These were the short positions for ITV at cop yesterday - big losses stacking up - Barclays upped their target price for ITV to 85p today - more pain to come for the shorts going forward - can't keep holding forever - any short reduction will fuel the rise north - follow the money - gla dyor etc

I did say on here yesterday that if advertising shows signs of picking up the share would go north and it has proved to be the case - far too much pessimism on here for my liking, had it not been for the strikes this share would be well above 80p by now - mcap at 3b is an absolute joke when the studios alone have already been valued in a bombed out market at 3b a year or so ago - rates and inflation now falling and the UK economy is gradually improving, all good for future advertising spend - the share is being supported with the buy backs and the Euros are on the horizon providing further support - I have added here substantially over the last year and have absolutely no intention of selling any -

I have to say I am cautiously optimistic re the trading update tomorrow - interest rates and inflation subsiding and will fall further going forwar, that in itself creates a more palatable environment for business expansion which in turn leads to more advertising - any sign of a pick up in advertising and this will go north imho - lets see

Added at 505p - agree with Mary here - airports rammed - me and Mrs C booked via Easyjet only last week to go to Spain for 3 weeks in September - the air fare was massively up on last year - will add on further weakness

Guys - I feel for you - I have been there myself - I was around 35pct down on ITV but kept adding as I could see the future potential and eventually after 18 months I am now back in profit - it is painful for sure - I can also see the future potential with MCG in which I am also down around 8pct atm - for me I think there is limited downside here going forward - the debt is manageable, the prospects are imo good with inflation and interest rates falling and the demand is there for buses over cars from a green perspective and the demand is there for buses over trains from a reliability/cost perspective - macro economic events could always push the share further south of course, but that is the same with most shares - I have decided, like ITV I will add further here subject to further weakness - gla dyor etc.

The figures from Kantar reflect what I have been saying on this board for around 2 years - Ocado can undercut the rest on deliveries as they don't have to pay staff to stack and sort the food items - robots did not require inflationary pay rises last time I checked - why would you want to receive food from Asda, Tesco etc when you can have the food from Marks and Spencer for around the same price ? - follow the money

This morning Kantar said online player Ocado was again the fastest growing grocer in the 12 weeks to April 14, with a 12.5% growth in sales - as I said in my post yesterday, the theory that MKS cannot maintain its Christmas dominance in food and clothing is completely wrong and playing out in front of your eyes - follow the money
