Fruitster - That is the problem with Degsy - insinuating or basically making up what someone has said in his responses - then using this made up information in his reply - like I said it is desperate and sad - did it all day long with me yesterday -

Alpha - for clothes mks will be effected by elderly but expect clothing stores to close down as other retailers have done - the staff are already being transferred from clothing to food so no EXTRA staff needed to be employed unlike tesco et al - mks food unaffected by elderly not going as all ages buy food there - my daughter works for mks and they took 27k in their small food outlet in 1 day and more that week than they did during Christmas week - expect this to continue as people HAVE to now eat at home more - mks food best in UK imo so they will benefit going forward for sure

problem we have atm is the down has come back down and like it or not the ftse is controlled by the dow as are all the other markets in the world - unless the dow stabilises and comes back we are screwed - what makes it worse is that their stocks were way overvalued anyway where as ours were way undervalued - now our stocks are at silly levels but keep being marked down and will continue to be marked down unless the dow stabilises pdq

Time for VOD to pull out of India - no point in throwing good money after bad - just declare bankruptcy and get out - leave India to get on with it - that will ultimately hurt India as it sends out the wrong message to other countries looking to invest there

Dales - Rico has said in the statement that uk will be losing money next year on any more industrial action - that gives him plenty of ammunition to split gls to realise value - no point in one side of the business dragging down the other - once the loss making business is isolated the overall losses accrued will FORCE massive change with huge swathes of redundancies - that is where this is going imo - share price at 170p is basically a p/e of 5 - no way will this continue much longer - value has to be realised and it will pdq imo - dyor etc

I have tried all the supermarkets food as Mrs C occasionally brings home something from lidl or aldi - we also shop at waitrose and tesco - none of them including waitrose are as good as marks - waitrose is a close second but overall marks is superior- it is all about the quality - yes you pay more but I can pay more and have no problem paying more - you pay for what you get my Dad used to say and its true - same with clothes - if you want quality go to marks if you want cheap crap go to primark -

agree 3put - plenty of noise on here - same old duffers who were saying sell when mks hit 163p - some good stuff in marks now - good quality clothing and a fair price when compared to its main competitors which are next and zara - the roll out of ocado will basically take away waitrose customers and give them to marks ( and I don't think anyone can dispute that marks food is not capable of doing that) - that will in effect give marks a lot more customers to pitch at - I added today at 195p and will reinvest the dividend tomorrow

Agree on lfl increase Costa, with clothing down - I have added mks shares all the way down and will continue to do so if the shares go down on results day - sterling now rising, brexit decision made so more positives going forward for mks and plenty of pent up demand for uk stocks which are significantly undervalued vs us, germany etc - mks will either recover, be taken out or merge (possibly with next) - I don't particularly mind which one as either will see a significant increase - shorts agree with me - down from 12pct in nov to 3.88pct today - follow the money - dyor etc

thanks Berty - agreed re Ofcom stranglehold - I am looking to add on the 24th when BT goes ex-div - the share price will be adjusted accordingly so may be able to pick up at sub 2 quid - my feeling is that when the press pick their stock market winners for 2020 BT will be in there on the basis of big gov investment, which should augur well for a good start for BT in the New Year

What the gov MUST do now is encourage businesses to come into this country - making UK broadband one of the best in the world would encourage this and what better way to promote Britain worldwide than BT - a British company with british in its name - I think there will be SIGNIFICANT funds pumped into BT as part of a general commitment to promote the UK as the best place in the world to do business - Tories have ALWAYS been pro business no reason why this will change anytime soon - good times ahead for BT me thinks

Actually Aus no - the NHS was the Tories idea - Henry Willink the Tory MP and Minister for Health produced the report re the NHS which culminated in the Beverage report which formed the basis of the NHS - Labour always like to take the credit for it as Bevan implemented it but the idea was Tory based

looking at live prices on ig there seems to be some support at the 38p mark - not sure if it is the bottom - time will tell I guess
